Alpha Jasper

Alpha Jasper (Alpha #4)

Book Review:

I read this as part of a kindle unlimited book bundle which I would recommend as the stories interlink.

This is Jasper's story. He isn't an ordinary shifter he is so much more. This creates a mystery to his character which his mate has to unravel.

This book has romance, action and suspense. Overall I have enjoyed these books.

4 stars out of 5.

Alpha Grayson

Alpha Grayson (Alpha #3)

Book Review: ♥

I downloaded this book via the Kindle Unlimited store as a set of three stories. I would recommend you start with Alpha Kaden's book first as it will enhance the reading of this one. However, it isn't essential. We learn vital information about Alpha Grayson in Kaden's book which is discovered later in this book.

Grayson knows who his mate is. That was the easy part. Convincing her, they are intended to be together isn't going to be easy.

Lexia has had a difficult life. Everything she was supposed to have was taken away from her. Now she is more careful of who she trusts. Alphas are not her favourite kind of shifters. She doesn't trust them, and this includes Grayson.

This book was okay. It still had a mystery and suspense element to it like Alpha Kaden's story, and there is obviously romance, but I didn't enjoy it as much. We meet Jasper in this book. Therefore, I guess it would be better to read this one before his story.

3 stars out of 5. This series was recommended to me via Inkitt.

I'm Not in the Band

I'm Not in the Band

Book Review: ♥ ♥

I'm not in the band is a sweet teen read. It is perfect for the age group it is aimed at (12-16).

Kassidy is wanting a fresh start and is moving to a new school. Just before she starts, she attends a music concert where she meets a cute boy. Lucky for her he offers to show her around her new school.

Archer is a twin. He has always felt like he lives in his brother's shadow. He wants Kassidy to be the one thing that is truly his. He's been used before to get to his brother, but Kass seems different. Now all he has to do is pluck up the courage to ask her out.

This is a sweet clean read about a boy with a famous twin. I really enjoyed I'm not in the band and would recommend it. My favourite thing about this book is the modern writing style. It fits perfectly, and I think it will appeal to the desired teen age group. This book uses texts and social media to enhance the story. Both characters are likeable, and the storyline is engaging.

5 out of 5. Spot on!

Alpha Kaden

Alpha Kaden (Alpha #2)

Book Review:

Kaden is feared by many. Lock your doors, close your windows and be in your house before dark. These aren't urban legends. They are the ways of life for the purity pack. You don't want your daughter to be taken next. Unfortunately for Mara tonight he has come for her.

Shifters have fated mates. Your true mate isn't always who you want them to be. Mara's mate may just be your worst nightmare.

This was an interesting take on a shifter romance. It's got action, romance, mystery and some hot steamy scenes.

4 stars out of 5. This series was recommended to me via Inkitt. However, I downloaded it via kindle unlimited.

Choosing Happy

Choosing Happy (Madison Square #2)

Book Review:

Choosing happy is book two in the Madison Square series. It can be read as a standalone. However, I would recommend you start with book one as the main character in this one is Sean (Drew's roommate from Somewhere in Between and you'll want to know his story).

Madison's husband has left her for a younger woman. She has her career, but her personal life just took a strange turn. She now finds herself open to the idea of having a little fun.

Sean is friends with Madison's brother. He may be 15 years younger, but that doesn't stop him going after what he wants. These two are sassy, dirty and perfect for each other. What starts as a hot fling could become so much more.

3 stars out of 5. This one was okay and had its funny moments. They had good chemistry for each other and were a good match. Just like the first instalment of this series this book is free for Kindle Unlimited readers.

This book is intended for an adult audience (U.K. 16+).

Somewhere in Between

Somewhere in Between (Madison Square #1)

Book Review:

Drew is the typical college player. He likes his girls easy on the eye and quick into the bedroom. His roommate is in a committed relationship. His girlfriend introduces Drew to Alex.

Alex isn't interested in becoming another notch on Drew's bed post. In fact, she's reluctant to get to know him at all, but he isn't giving up that easily. Drew becomes the family Alex desperately needs. After 6 years of friendship, she begins to notice Drew as more than her best friend but the risk is big. If it doesn't workout, she will lose everything.

This book is written in the college years and the now. It switches throughout the story to help create a fuller picture.

4.5 stars out of 5. I really enjoyed Somewhere in between. It's the first instalment of the Madison Square series. It can be read as a standalone. However, I can't wait to read the next instalment. Plus this book is free for Kindle Unlimited readers which is always a bonus.

This book is intended for an adult audience (U.K. 16+).

The Understatement of the Year

The Understatement of the Year (The Ivy Years #3)

Book Review: ♥ ♥

What a perfect ending! 5 stars easy

I love this series, but unfortunately, I only have one book left to read.

They were high school best friends and more, but kids can be cruel. It ended in disaster, and neither of them ever got over what they had lost.

John Rikker moved away during high school and left Michael Graham behind, but he wasn't the one who betrayed his best friend. Rikker has never had it easy. All he wants to do is play hockey and keep his head down. Unfortunately, his team doesn't feel the same way. He is kicked off the college team for being gay! His Uncle finds a loophole and gets him a transfer to Harkness college. The problem is that this is Michaels team.

Michael is the straightest gay guy anyone could know. He so far in the closet it's controlling his life and affecting his sleep. Now Rikker is back on his radar, and he is a walking disaster.

This story isn't all fluffy and fairytales. It's raw and shows the lonely side of accepting yourself. One guy is out and friendless, and the other is living an impossible lie. The understatement of the year is about finding happiness and forgetting about what others think. Of course, there is some hockey in there too ;-P.

Alice in Brexitland

Alice in Brexitland

Book Review:

Everywhere you go in Britain you cannot escape the Brexit talk. It's all over social media. It's the hot topic of conversation, and with an election on the horizon, it feels like you cannot outrun it.

Alice in Brexitland is a funny and entertaining rundown of events. It tells the fairy tale of Alice in Wonderland but with the twist being the politicians etc. being the Wonderland characters.

We need a few more laughs when it comes to the political decisions. People seem so serious, and this book is a lighthearted tickle to lighten the mood. Although if you are terrified of leaving the EU, this book isn't going to offer you any comfort.

It is broken down into chapters about meeting each of the characters. David Cameron being the rabbit leading Alice into Wonderland.

"Dave! She yelled, "I followed you down this hole; the least you can do is help me out of it!"

The pictures add to the story and offer a tickle of their own. The artist is talented in capturing the personality of the reality and fantasy.

This book is clever. It's a short read and portrays the characters well. The story follows as Alice in Wonderland, and there is even a tea party. It's supposed to be a joke, and that's the way I took it. I would say the author is a remain supporter which is evident by the end of the book. By the end, Alice in Brexitland is heading into a little rant, but it was something different for me, and I enjoyed it.

3.5 stars out of 5.

It Had to Be ❤ You Blog Tour ❤ Interview with Lizzy Charles ❤

It Had to Be You

Interview with Lizzy Charles ❤

❤ I really liked James prankster personality. What was your inspiration for his character?
First, thank you so much for having me on the blog. I’m thrilled you liked James. I loved getting to know him too. My main inspiration for his character came from Donald Glover, an incredibly intelligent comedian, actor, and rapper (He’s also known as Childish Gambino). Donald Glover has a contagious personality that’s almost golden retriever like in nature and he’s always having fun, just like James.

❤ What did you like best about this book?

I loved the honesty and wisdom shared between Edelweiss and James. Far too often, I find that people don’t give teenagers enough credit and I don’t like books written through the lens that assumes teenagers are foolish. Maybe I was a fortunate teenager myself, but even as an adult I know so many teens who have wisdom that many adults will never come to understand. So when I write a book, I never short change the depth of my characters’ hearts and understanding of the world.

❤ Did the book turn out the way you intended it to?
No! Not at all. This book was a huge process to take from first draft to a published piece, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The heart of my characters remained the same but the events changed dramatically (The zombie part was in the original draft—yes, for those reading, there is a fun zombie part.) Through the process of rewriting the book, I was able to dig deeper and provide an even better story.

❤ Have you already got something in the pipe line for the next instalment in this series?
I’m working on it! That’s about all I can say right now. J

❤ Will the mean girl, James ex be getting her own happily ever after or is she an intended villain for future storylines?
Eeeep! You have no idea how much I want to tell you, but I can’t at the moment. My lips have to be sealed.

❤ Please tell us a little about yourself
Sure! Somehow, I’m thirty-one years old with three kids and married to my high school boyfriend. Every morning, after saying a quick word of thanks to God for another day, my mind immediately focuses on food. Before my feet touch the ground, I’ve calculated what I’ll eat, when I’ll eat it, and at what time. I’m a huge lover of green tea and all things Harry Potter (my dog’s named Professor Lupin) I dislike oreo cookies (which all of my female characters do too!), and one of my top items on my bucket list is to eat a sandwich in the kitchen of the Whitehouse.

It had to be You is my fourth novel and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to share it with you.

It Had to Be You

It Had to Be You (Brokemore Academy, #1)

Book Review:

It had to be you is a sweet romance set in a boarding school. Edelweiss has been home schooled, but she would like to have a high school experience before she goes to college. Her parents agree to send her to Brockmore Academy. She makes a list of events she would like to experience. From the second she arrives her rollercoaster ride begins. It's more than she expected.

James literally stumbles into the new girl and finds she's the answer to his prayers. He needs to keep his head down and get on with his work this year, but he has a small problem. He has an addiction to playing pranks. It's like an itch that has to be scratched. He needs to settle down, but trouble has a way of following him around.

This book has the typical popular guy, the mean girl and mystery best friends. It's sweet, it's funny, and it's about personal growth.

Dark Lover

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood #1)

Book Review:

I enjoyed this book. However, I have no interest in continuing the series. I wouldn't say I'd lost interest by the end, but I'd just had enough.

Wrath is trying to avoid his calling. He knows what is needed to be done but is choosing only to live half life. He has a partner but chooses not to enjoy the benefits. He leads the vampires but doesn't want to be their king. His life is going to change. It starts with the death of a close friend. He wants Wrath to help his daughter. She is the missing piece.

Beth never knew her family, and although she will not meet them, she is about to find herself in her father's world. The world she didn't know existed. Wrath is going to be her guide, but from the second she meets him, she is like a cat on heat. Humans have never satisfied her needs and Wrath is about to show her why.

Dark Lover is a complex and well thought out story which has multiple levels to it. A new world is created, and there are lots of interesting characters to meet. 4 stars out of 5.

Ashes of Midnight

Ashes of Midnight (Midnight Breed #6)

Lara Adrian

Book Review:

Andreas wants revenge for the family that was taken from him. He will stop at nothing. Andreas is slowly working his way to the top of the food chain. Andreas wants them to know he is coming. Revenge can be sweet but not always straightforward.

Claire is in the middle of Andreas plans, but she doesn't have a clue her mate is behind his misery. Claire's guards come for her on full alert. They try to get her to safety, but Andreas is hot on their tail. She needs to work out the facts quickly and find the truth.

This is the 6th book in the Midnight Breed series however it can be read as a standalone. It would be beneficial to start from the beginning of this series but not essential. Ashes of Midnight is a second chance romance with all the cards stacked against them.

4 stars out of 5. It has been a while since I read a Lara Adrian story. I enjoyed it.

A Good Move: An Arranged Marriage Romance

Book Review:

Another little gem from Ms Ryder. I would highly recommend signing up to her newsletters I love hearing about her next adventure.
I class Rocklyn Ryder's books as a naughty little treat. There always short, sweet but tasty ;).

Gavin wants a family. He knows he isn't going to find the perfect lady in his own town and decides he needs help. An arranged Marriage seems like the perfect answer. As we all know Ravens online matchmaking service is guaranteed to find his perfect match.

The Bad Boy's Girl

The Bad Boy's Girl (The Bad Boy's Girl #1)

Book Review:

Overall this book was okay. It's funny and Witty in places. The story is long enough to sink your teeth into it. It has a sequel to it which I'm guessing contains the happy ever after. This one is just the high school years.

Tessa has always had a crush on Jay but he dates her prettier best friend. Tessa is crushed but this is only the start of the problem. Her best friend becomes a popular mean girl. Tessa wants to blend into the crowd but ends up being bullied by her former best friend. Years later Cole, Jays brother returns to town and he wants to look out for Tessa. They have a bad history of not getting on but things have changed. Cole is now her knight in shining armour. He isn't the boy that left. He's so much more now.

One of my favourite books is Bully (Penelope Douglas). The reason I'm telling you this is because the best friend/ex-best friend bullying in this book I disliked. I like strong female leads and in this book she's more dependent on her friend, Cole to stick up for her.

I had a love/hate relationship with Tessa throughout this book. She was funny and cleaver but also weak. At times I didn't like her decisions but overall she was okay.

Cole was sweet but a total bad ass just the way I like them.

The ending to this book will leave you wanting more.
