❤ I really liked James prankster personality. What was your inspiration for his character?

First, thank you so much for having me on the blog. I’m thrilled you liked James. I loved getting to know him too. My main inspiration for his character came from Donald Glover, an incredibly intelligent comedian, actor, and rapper (He’s also known as Childish Gambino). Donald Glover has a contagious personality that’s almost golden retriever like in nature and he’s always having fun, just like James.

❤ What did you like best about this book?

I loved the honesty and wisdom shared between Edelweiss and James. Far too often, I find that people don’t give teenagers enough credit and I don’t like books written through the lens that assumes teenagers are foolish. Maybe I was a fortunate teenager myself, but even as an adult I know so many teens who have wisdom that many adults will never come to understand. So when I write a book, I never short change the depth of my characters’ hearts and understanding of the world.

❤ Did the book turn out the way you intended it to?

No! Not at all. This book was a huge process to take from first draft to a published piece, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The heart of my characters remained the same but the events changed dramatically (The zombie part was in the original draft—yes, for those reading, there is a fun zombie part.) Through the process of rewriting the book, I was able to dig deeper and provide an even better story.

❤ Have you already got something in the pipe line for the next instalment in this series?

I’m working on it! That’s about all I can say right now. J

❤ Will the mean girl, James ex be getting her own happily ever after or is she an intended villain for future storylines?

Eeeep! You have no idea how much I want to tell you, but I can’t at the moment. My lips have to be sealed.

❤ Please tell us a little about yourself

Sure! Somehow, I’m thirty-one years old with three kids and married to my high school boyfriend. Every morning, after saying a quick word of thanks to God for another day, my mind immediately focuses on food. Before my feet touch the ground, I’ve calculated what I’ll eat, when I’ll eat it, and at what time. I’m a huge lover of green tea and all things Harry Potter (my dog’s named Professor Lupin) I dislike oreo cookies (which all of my female characters do too!), and one of my top items on my bucket list is to eat a sandwich in the kitchen of the Whitehouse.

It had to be You is my fourth novel and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to share it with you.
