Saving Grace Tour and Giveaway!

Saving Grace
by D.M. Barr
Genre: Psychological Thriller

Grace Pierrepoint Rendell, the only child of an ailing billionaire, has been treated for paranoia since childhood. When she secretly quits her meds, she begins to suspect that once her father passes, her husband will murder her for her inheritance. Realizing that no one will believe the ravings of a supposed psychotic, she devises a creative way to save herself – she will write herself out of danger, authoring a novel with the heroine in exactly the same circumstances, thus subtly exposing her husband's scheme to the world. She hires acclaimed author Lynn Andrews to help edit her literary insurance policy, but when Lynn is murdered, Grace is discovered standing over the bloody remains. The clock is ticking: can she write and publish her manuscript before she is strapped into a straitjacket, accused of homicide, or lowered six feet under?
With a cast of secondary characters whose challenges mirror Grace's own, Saving Grace is, at it's core, an allegory for the struggle of the marginalized to be heard and live life on their own terms.

One felony was all it took to convince Andrea Lin she was better suited to committing crime on paper than in person. As renowned mystery author Lynn Andrews, she understood conflict equaled good drama. Like her readers, she should have expected the hiccups, even relished them. What she hadn’t counted on was the accompanying agita, especially while sitting in her Bergen County kitchen, far from the action at the Bitcoin Teller Machine.

Her one job had been to place a single phone call when the money hit and tell the hacker to lift the encryption on Grace’s computer. Trouble was, her dozen calls remained unanswered until a few minutes ago, throwing their meticulous plan off schedule.

Andrea stroked the blue-gray Nebulung purring on her lap and tried to ignore the churning in her stomach. “Denver, the next time I consider helping a sibling with some crazy scheme, you have my permission to use my leg as a scratching post until I come to my senses. Agreed?”

Denver looked up, his green eyes filled with innocence, and answered with a single meow before leaping onto the table toward her plate of shortbread cookies. “

I’ll take that as a yes.” She sipped her tea, willing the sugar to sweeten the acrid taste in her mouth. The phone interrupted her meditation. No doubt a check-in from her brother, the extorter-in-chief.

“I figured you’d have called by now. Everything on track?” Joe’s strained voice conveyed his own jangled nerves. They’d agreed to be vague when communicating. In these days of Siri and Alexa, anyone could be listening.

“Finally. Took forever to get through to our friend, but she said she’d take care of ‘our project’ as soon as her meetings wrapped up. From here on out though, I’m sticking to fiction. Real-life intrigue is too stressful.”

Andrea missed Joe’s response, instead perplexed by her cats’ sudden change of behavior. Denver had tilted his head and leapt from the table; Vail and Aspen sat frozen, ears perked, staring toward the foyer. Then she heard it too, the sound of papers shuffling in the living room. She leaned forward, muscles taut, hackles raised, ready to pounce. “Joe, hold on a sec. I think someone’s in the house. I’ll call you back later.”

***

“Wait, what? Andrea??” Silence. The connection was dead.

After twenty minutes of weaving in and out of rush-hour traffic to travel one mile, Joe “Hack” Hackford pulled up outside his sister’s Ridgewood home. Adrenaline pumping on overdrive, he jumped from his car and sprinted toward the house. Door wide open—not an encouraging sign. He steeled his nerves and hastened inside. The living room looked like a hurricane’s aftermath, with furniture overturned and papers littering the carpets and floor.

“Andrea? Are you here?” He rushed into the kitchen, which lacked any signs of their celebratory dinner—no spaghetti boiling on the stove, no cake rising in the oven. Only the door to the backyard ajar and a shriek emanating from the next room, piercing the eerie silence. Hair stiffening at the back of his neck, he raced into the dining room where a redheaded woman stood frozen, staring across the room.

“Who the hell are you?” he growled.

The stranger remained wide-eyed and unresponsive. He followed her gaze to the floor, where he witnessed the unthinkable. His beloved sister lay in the corner, surrounded by a pool of blood, a kitchen knife stuck in her chest. Her eyes remained fixed on the ceiling. A trio of feline guards circled her lifeless body.

Hack’s knees turned to jelly, and he grabbed onto a chair for support, forcing back the remains of the snack he’d consumed only minutes earlier. Once the initial shock waned, he reverted his attention back to the intruder. At second glance, she did look somewhat familiar, though the woman he’d met a few weeks back—the missing heiress whose computer they’d just hacked—was brunette. Had she uncovered their con? With a bolt of fury, he reached forward and pulled the wig from her head. A thousand questions zigzagged in his brain, but only one forced its way past his lips:

“Oh my God. Grace. Oh my God. What the hell have you done?”

By day, a mild-mannered salesperson, wife, mother, rescuer of senior shelter dogs, competitive trivia player and author groupie, happily living just north of New York City. By night, an author of sex, suspense and satire.
My background includes stints in travel marketing, travel journalism, meeting planning, public relations and real estate. I was, for a long and happy time, an award-winning magazine writer and editor. Then kids happened. And I needed to actually make money. Now they're off doing whatever it is they do (of which I have no idea since they won't friend me on Facebook) and I can spend my spare time weaving tales of debauchery and whatever else tickles my fancy.
The main thing to remember about my work is that I am NOT one of my characters. For example, as a real estate broker, I've never played Bondage Bingo in one of my empty listings or offed anyone at my local diet clinic.
But that's not to say I haven't wanted to...

Brooklyn boy reincarnates as John Lennon in 1958.

Can he escape Lennon’s tragic fate?

Modern-day Brooklyn boy John Palmieri is hit by a bus, what a coincidence, and he wakes up as the prince of a royal family in India, 1958! In this distant past, where the Beatles does not exist, he finds love and sex, and eventually conquers the world with the Beatles’ songs in his memory. One day in 1980, he runs into a man named Mark Chapman and realizes that fate is pulling him towards something he knows is coming…but cannot easily escape.

 Excerpt

Intro

Imagine you’re sixteen, and living in Brooklyn, being bullied by every kid who’s bigger than you. Then, BAM! You wake up as a young prince in 1958 India. Suddenly, you find yourself with riches and power beyond your wildest fantasies. This is how your journey starts in Bollywood Invasion, which uniquely blends Indian cultural experience, time-travel and the legendary songs from the Beatles.

Brooklyn is readily forgotten. Life becomes a constant stream of debauchery, coming to a stand-still only when you meet “the one.” However, love doesn’t come easy. You must become a better man and you decide to sing your way into her heart with the songs based on your memory of vintage Beatles music. One night, you come to the lawn outside her dormitory building to ask her out, for the last time…

Hey Raj

Ankita! Ankita!”

At eleven in the night, Ankita woke up to a familiar voice calling her name outside her dorm. “Not again!” she groaned as she crawled from under the covers.

Why don’t you write a song for me too? I am not that bad!”

Ankita could hear the banter outside. She walked to the door but could not open it. Priyanka must be in the building, she thought.

Ankita!”

Raj stood on the lawn exactly where he had the last time he was there.

I wrote another song, especially for you!”

Ankita opened the door and saw Raj standing next to Arun with his acoustic guitar. “Raj, please leave,” she begged.

Not until you’ve heard this!” Arun started playing a tune on his guitar and the entire dorm fell quiet.

Hey Raj, don’t make it bad …” https://youtu.be/vxv_6YDOqvs

He never took his eyes off her the entire time that he sang Hey You, his parody of Hey Jude. Had she always been this beautiful?

Hey Raj, don’t be afraid …”

Who the hell is singing at this ungodly hour!” the matron shouted from somewhere. Raj continued to sing, not flinching at all. Arun, on the other hand, was not feeling as confident as Raj.

Raj, we should go!”

I am going to break every single one of your bones, you rascal!”

Raj, run! She will catch you!” yelled Ankita.

Raj smiled. She cared about him.

He continued to sing.

“It’s you again!” The matron was on the lawn now, brandishing a large broom in her hand ominously.

Raj, we should go!”

Keep playing! Na nanananana!”

He started running, the matron after him.

I am done here,” said Arun and ran away into the darkness.

Na nanananana!” Raj continued to sing while running around in circles in the lawn, the matron closing in. Some of the girls watching the moment unfold started singing with him. “Na nanananana!”

Raj, what are you doing?” yelled Ankita. “Go back!”

Na nanananana!” The entire dorm building sang.

I…love…you…Ankita!” he shouted as he ran, his breath running out. “Give…me…a…chance!”

I am going to break your legs, YOU RASCAL!” The matron flung the broom at Raj.

Na nanananana!”

For god’s sake, run! I will go out with you! Just once! Go now!”

The entire dorm building erupted.

I love you, Ankita!” said Raj as he broke into a run. “Na nanananana!” he continued to sing as he disappeared into the darkness.

Sleeping With Shadows Tour and Giveaway!

Sleeping With Shadows
by Rachel Hailey
Genre: Dark Paranormal Romance

Once The King of Nightmares, Ashe lost everything when he was betrayed. Released from prison, he's got one goal: Stay Free. To make that happen he'll have to rescue the girl who stole his crown while saving the court he'd rather see burn. But he can't do it alone. He needs Callie.
Abused, neglected, and finally shunned by The Court of Light, Callie is done with court politics. It's just too damned bad Ashe doesn't care. He's arrogant, manipulative, and dangerous. Everything she's been taught to fear. It would be so easy to hate him, but the sadness in his gaze calls to her heart, and his touch awakens her own darkness. She has never wanted anyone more.
Callie is Ashe's darkest desire, but to earn his freedom and prevent the destruction of humanity, she must embrace the destiny that will keep them apart. But is the safety of the world worth losing the kind of love he's only dreamed of?

THE SOFT KNOCK STAYED HER HAND. SHE LOOKED AT THE ALARM clock blinking in her palm as if the sound had somehow come from the object. Before she could respond, the door swung open. The light from the hall illuminated Ashe. Callie's mouth ran dry. His shirt off, jeans unbuttoned and riding low on his hips, he looked like an advertisement for lust. Her eyes roamed over his perfect chest, following the swirling tattoos that curled down deliciously defined abs and continued under the denim waistband. Her pulse jumped as he came toward her. Only then did she remember she was naked, not that she cared. She dropped the alarm clock, it bounced from the bed to the floor. She ignored it. She only had eyes for Ashe. She bit her bottom lip as anticipation zinged through her body. “Can't sleep,” Ashe stated, his deep husky voice made her heart beat faster. “No,” she whispered, still poised on her knees in the middle of the bed. “You?” He stalked further into her room, as graceful as a hunting cat, and ten times more sensual than any human. This would be amazing. He stopped at the edge of the mattress and folded his hands behind his back. “Not so much,” he replied. “Need help?” “That's my line,” he said but didn't move from his spot. She laughed softly. “Then come help me.” She crooked her finger at him and watched with appreciation as his chest moved, sending muscles rippling. “Lay down.” The strain in his voice was so erotic. Excitement building, she did as he bid. “Close your eyes.” She should have expected him to be demanding. She grinned, loving it. Her sheet landed over her body before his hands deftly moved around her form, tucking her in so the sheet hugged the curves of her body. His hands lingered, sending goosebumps cascading across her skin. The bed dipped as he leaned over her. Callie moved her head so she could watch behind slitted eyes as he hovered. “We have to sleep.” Sleep was the last thing on her mind. He brushed his fingertips across her lips, making her shiver. As his index finger lingered against her bottom lip, her mouth fell open, and she captured the digit between her teeth. He hissed in pleasure. Emboldened by the sound, she closed her lips around his finger and swirled her tongue around the tip. She tasted victory as she heard his breath speed. She nipped him playfully before letting go. He growled, causing her to giggle.

“We really need to sleep.” Ashe's eyes were glowing, and she could feel the beat of his magic. “You said that already.” “I know.” Ashe leaned closer, his lips parted. “Kiss me,” Callie whispered. “That would be a bad idea.” His eyes seemed to grow brighter.

EXCERPT:

“Oh, right, I bet you have a lot of exes that would try to destroy me or something.”

Damn.

“You do!” She pointed at me, grinning like she’d won the lottery.

“They would not try to destroy you. They would be jealous, of course, but still.” My past was a little more recent, but it was still the past. “I bet you have men that would want to kill me, too.”

She shook her head and shrugged. “All my exes are married now.”

“Just because they are married does not mean they do not still want you.” Some of mine were married when I met them. But I was not going to admit that, or she really would just get up and walk away.

She snickered. “You have no idea how good I am at burning bridges.”

“Then tell me.”

“Oh, also”—she was very good at changing the subject—“we don’t even know if we will like each other. What if we can’t stand each other?”

“We don’t even know if we will like each other. What if we can’t stand each other?”

“We are doing fine, now, aren’t we?”

“Today doesn’t count.”

“Why?”

“Because…just because,” she grumbled with her eyes closed.

“That’s very clear.”

“Shut up.”

I snickered.

“You’re laughing at me, but I’m serious. You came all the way here, but what if you hate me? More importantly, what if I hate you?”

More importantly. “How about you and I get to know each other more while I’m here.” That was originally my goal, but something had shifted in the last twenty-four hours.

“Get to know each other?” She grimaced against the pillow. “That sounds like dating.”

“Yes, I believe that is what the commoners call it.”

“Dating sucks. It’s too stressful. You’re always trying so hard to make the best first impression or say the right thing.”

“You are very difficult. You know that, right? You will not agree just to get married, but you also dislike dating.”

She smiled, partially asleep. “I know. My mom is always annoyed with me about it. Are you giving up on me already, Your Highness?”

“For the sake of my country and pride, I refuse.”

“Don’t say you weren’t warned,”
