Greywood Conservatory for the Arcane #1
Baneful Magick
Suki Rose
Greywood Conservatory for the Arcane.
Welcome Home.
No one really understood my obsession for poison and deadly plants, so when I was offered a spot at Greywood Conservatory, I thought I'd found acceptance.
I should have remembered appearances can be deceiving.
The professor who delivered my invitation haunts my thoughts. My unlikely friendship with a fae that’s feared by everyone, including professors, is causing tension. And then there’s the quiet and secretive incubus who is fighting his attraction to me.
But classmates and courses aren't the only things I have to worry about. Students are being attacked on campus with no answers in sight.
The magickal world is full of secrets, and I've found myself in the middle of them. I've always thrived among the baneful, but this abyss threatens to be all-consuming.
With secrets and evasions at every turn, will the people closest to me open up, or will fate make the decision for us?
REVIEW: 4Stars Baneful Magick is the first book in the Greywood Conservatory for the Arcane. It’s told from multiple points of view and Isla is our main character. She’s a witch with a passion for deadly plants. When she’s invited to the school she hopes to finally hone her craft.
What she finds at the school is secrets. Lots of secrets.
The school is full of different kinds of paranormals. She ends up rooming with a few different kinds of paranormals and makes friends with others. There’s more going on than just learning about magic and the secrets are piling up.
We have a shy incubus and a Bone Fae to intrigue us and then there’s the professor with a little two much interest in Isla. Baneful Magick is just the beginning and there’s promise of more.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s slow paced and we aren’t given many answers but the story is so intriguing it had me hooked. This does end with a cliffhanger and it does look like there Will be a wait for the next instalment.
KU read as part of the morally grey read-a-thon. This is described as dark romance and I guess it is, but so far in this challenge, it’s the lightest one. This is probably to do with the slow burn of the book and the focus being more on the fantasy.
