K Club Dark Side Tour and Giveaway #Guest Post

Awakening Submission
The K Club Dark Side Book 1
by Rachell Nichole
Genre: Dark Erotic Romance

I am not a submissive. Nuh uh, no way. As a relationship therapist, I understand the appeal of kink, I really do, but it was never for me. Until him.

Sir Clayton Schultz, PhD strode into my life unannounced and with the air of arrogance that only a Dom like him could have.

A chance meeting at a kinky conference where I’m teaching a workshop on the psychology of relationships, leads to one hell of a night. But Sir has rules to follow.

We’re intent on having a little fun at the conference and going our separate ways, but when we get home, and realize we don’t live far from one another, we make it all of a week before we’re together in his bed.

But I’m not sure if I can do this whole submissive thing full-time, or how to reconcile being a strong, independent feminist, and Sir Clayton’s submissive.

Goodreads * Amazon

Right, I’m supposed to be the one in command here. “So, I’ll introduce myself to you a bit, and then I’ll take you through some of the basics of psychology behind sex and relationships, and we’ll have a Q&A session after. My name is Dr. Jacey Reynolds. I am a psychologist first, and a sex therapist second. I got my PhD from Berkley with a focus on child psychology actually. During my first few rotations and jobs at hospitals and private practices, I realized that helping kids and adolescents was great, but I just couldn’t stand it when I lost a patient. It happened too often, so I changed direction and started focusing on relationship therapy.
“Couples counseling, mostly. And from there, I realized just how large of a component sex was to that, and it wasn’t long after that when I decided to strictly pursue sex therapy. I studied with some of the greatest therapists and opened my own practice. I now work with couples, and individual patients to find their most successful and fulfilling sexual relationships, and how to use sex as a means to build from. Some patients come to me already in a rocky relationship. The sex is suffering considerably, because their communication both in the bedroom, and outside of it, is a challenge.” As I’m speaking, I can see a few folks jotting notes. Then the door at the back of the room opens and a man strides in. He realizes the room is silent, and I’m staring at him. Damn it, what the fuck was I saying?
He’s tall, with dark hair and broad shoulders. A couple of heads turn, but he ignores the stares. He strides through the room like he owns it and takes a seat toward the front of the room, off to the side. It’s one of the only empty chairs left.
“By all means, please continue.” His voice is indulgent. As if I had to wait for him to join us before I can speak again. The nerve.
I roll my eyes, and he grins at me. A frisson of awareness runs through me. His gaze is predatory. Fuck. I recognize this instant attraction inside myself.
“So, sex.” I clear my throat and force myself to tear my gaze from his. I am not going to let the warmth spreading through me stop me from presenting to the group. I force myself out from behind the podium, taking the microphone with me from the stand. I start walking across the small open space in the front of the room. “I know that many of you are writers. Some of you are also readers. Since of course this is a Kinky Con, that means that what a lot of you are
writing and reading is about sex, particularly of the kinky variety. Today, I want to go through some of the ins and outs of what happens when we have sex, physiologically and psychologically. And to talk about how communication between partners can affect the sex. Now, there’s nothing wrong with two consenting adults who aren’t in a relationship having sex. But even in that iteration, there has to be some kind of communication.”
I wouldn’t mind testing that theory with Mr. Dark and Broody in the second row. He’s staring at me; not taking notes, not paying anything around us any mind. Even when I’m not looking at him, I can feel his stare along my skin. It’s like someone has taken the edge of a feather and continuously run it all over my body from head to toe. I shiver. I’m covered in goosebumps.
My gaze is drawn back to his.
What would it be like to be alone in the room with him? He’s already making me so hot and bothered I can barely focus on speaking, and we’re in a room full of people.

I swallow hard. “So, when you’re writing a couple who are getting all hot and heavy, you want to work on building them as real people. Real people, even when they’re just hooking up, have feelings. They may not want to acknowledge those feelings, and sex and love can be two very separate and different things, but the feelings of a human when they have a sexual relationship with someone are real. They’re varied, too. Having sex fills a physiological need. But it also fills a very psychological need. People need people. We need connections with others. That’s part of being human. The thing you want to work out when you’re writing these characters is what needs are being filled by sex. What needs are not being fulfilled by sex.” I am talking directly to Mr. Tall Dark and Sexy. I know I am. I’m sure the rest of the room can tell too. But I can’t help it. I want him. I can feel it deep inside myself. The room is quiet, listening intently to my spiel. I pop up the slideshow presentation with the different aspects of sex that I want to explore with him today. Them, damn it. Tall Dark and Broody is taking over my thoughts. I need a fan. My body is overheating.

Bound by Submission
The K Club Dark Side Book 2

In our world, No and Red are two very different words.

It doesn’t matter that I’ve decided I’m done being his submissive. I know something is broken between us and I can’t seem to fix it. So, I am intent on no longer being his. But my insistence that I don’t want him is futile, and we both know it. Until and unless a safeword comes out of my mouth, Sir will show me no mercy.
When he asks me to move in with him, I have never felt more secure. But co-habitation brings its own set of issues, and as we navigate the new stage of our relationship, things get complicated.
And when Sir’s first submissive suddenly comes back into his life, and she reveals parts of his past he hasn’t shared with me, I’m not sure what else he’s been hiding. When I discover his secrets, and the accusations against him start flying, I fear I’ve made a terrible mistake.

Craving Submission
The K Club Dark Side Book 3

My Sir has been charged with murder.

I can do nothing except fight this battle by his side, even though I now know he’s been hiding secrets from me. When I’m confronted with his past first-hand, I have to find a way to fight not just for his freedom, but for our lives.

**Coming Soon!! **

Thanks for having me here for this interview! I can’t wait to let readers get to know a bit more about me and my books.
-What book and/or experience made you want to be a writer?

I’ve been storytelling since I could type. I’m not sure if it was because I was such an avid reader as a kid, or if it was the insomnia and ease of access to a computer during the summer, or some combination thereof, but I do know that when I was ten or eleven and showing my parents my stories, they sat me down to talk about plagiarism, because I was crafting stories well beyond my age, which of course made me pleased as punch. As for why I write romance, that’s a little easier to place. When I was 16, my mom handed me my first paranormal romance. I’d read adult literature and YA (though it wasn’t nearly as popular then) and all kinds of other genres. But never an adult romance. It was Dark Desire by Christine Feehan, one of her Carpathian novels. And I was hooked. I started writing a paranormal romance novel two years later.

-What genre(s) do you write?

Man, I’ve written just about anything by now, flash fiction, poetry and experimental pieces that use multimedia and pictures, and quite a bit of creative non-fiction. As for noveling, I write paranormal romance, romantic suspense, and contemporary erotic romance. Mostly I’ve just published the contemporary erotic stuff. I’m still occasionally writing the paranormal or romantic suspense, but most of my focus is on contemporary erotic.

-For other aspiring writers, any tips?

This one’s easy – write!!! Never give up and never stop writing (or reading). If I had stopped the first time my parents thought I was taking other people’s stuff and putting my name on it, or the first time I got a rejection, or the first time I got a C on a writing assignment, or every time I was torn to shreds by professors and peers who knew I had better in me, I wouldn’t be here today. I wouldn’t be loving what I do and crafting stories to share with you all.

-What’s your favorite book/genre to read?

I adore romance novels of most subgenres. I will always have a special place for paranormal, since it was my first introduction to romance. But I also love historical, steam punk, erotic romance, and romantic suspense. I will say that my least favorite is behind closed doors (or what most people call “sweet”) contemporary romance. There’s usually not enough going on in those to keep me on the edge of my seat. The other subgenres have so much else going on around the romance plot and in the amazing ones, this external action is driving the romance and vice versa. It’s incredible to read.

-What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever written? (Book, short story, scene, etc.)

That’s such a good question, and a really hard one to answer. I’ve taken creative writing classes since fifth grade, so I have amassed an incredible amount of writing. I have a piece of creative nonfiction that I wrote, off-the-cuff, in a course. We had a writing prompt about “getting lost” and we were in a computer lab writing the piece and posting them for the class to read real-time. I was the first done, with almost 1000 words in 30 minutes, my professor read it as we were sitting there, and laughed. I mean deep belly laughed, and told me it was the best thing I’d ever written in his classes. I’ve written some great novels (yes, I know I’m biased) but there’s just something about the totally spontaneous off-the-cuff creative nonfiction I’ve written in the past that I will always always love!

Here’s a tiny snippet from that piece:

I really hate getting lost. It kind of sucks, a lot. It makes me frustrated and annoyed and I just can’t stand it. I used to call my mother while driving (without my earpiece) and then we’d growl back and forth at each other. Where are you? I don’t know, if I knew that, I wouldn’t be calling you. Well I can’t help you get where you need to be until I know where you are. Okay, the corner of Townsend and Salina. Ok going which way? Uh, I dunno. RAAAACCCHHHHHH. MOOOOOOM. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. (And yes, that was a blatant King & I reference).

500 Feet Above Alaska is the story of Peter Connors, a young man who moves to Alaska in pursuit of his dream of becoming a commercial pilot. While the pilots in Alaska are known for their superior airmanship, they are also famous for their disregard of the rules that govern them. Determined to ultimately be an airline pilot in “the lower forty-eight” Peter vows to walk the straight and narrow. Yet, when Peter is the only pilot available to rescue a comrade who crashed in the snow-covered tundra, he is forced to compromise the very ethics that define him. Over time, Peter’s competence begins to overpower his regard for the rules. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, Peter begins a downward spiral. The life Peter had carefully constructed for himself is at odds with the “live or die” flying of Alaska. Over the course of a year of doing battle with the elements on a daily basis, armed only with his plane, his wits and his skill to bring him home every night, Peter must decide whether it is more important to embrace life or cheat death.

About the Author

 photo Bob_Brantner_8128554_zpsw1jvg9rl.jpg

Robert M. Brantner is currently working as both a captain and a line check airman for a major US airline.  He started his flying career as a bush pilot in Alaska, which later led to a job as a pilot for Trans World Airlines.  He spent four years with TWA before he landed his dream job, working for the airline he flies for today.

Bob was born in Southern California and attended high school there before heading to Arizona for college.  After graduating from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, he moved to Alaska when he got his first flying job as a bush pilot.  During his time in Alaska, Bob first tried his hand at writing, penning a memoir on his experiences flying Cessnas in the untamed Alaskan wilderness.

All throughout his flying career, Bob continued to write.  He penned several (unpublished) manuscripts.  It was after Bob's completion of Claus: The Untold Story of Kris Kringle, that he decided to work with his younger sister (and editor), Taylor Brantner, on cleaning up the story until it was fit for publication.  After some success with Claus, Bob dug out his previously edited (however, unpublished) manuscript of Five Hundred Feet.  He teamed again with Taylor and re-edited the material.

Bob is a certificated Airline Transport Pilot and is type rated in the Beech 1900, Boeing 737, 757, 767, Airbus A320 and the DC-9.  He is also a rated Flight Engineer.  He also holds a commercial sea plane rating that he obtained in his time in Alaska.

Five Hundred Feet Above Alaska is Bob's third published book.  He wrote the afore mentioned Claus, as well as My Year as an Alaskan Bush Pilot, a non-fiction account of some of his experiences flying in "The Last Frontier."

Bob is married to Kelly Kaczka Brantner and they have one daughter, Madison, and a dog, Fergus.  They live just outside of Annapolis, Maryland.

Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult
New school. First love. A psychotic werewolf that wanted me dead. And it was only week one in Santa Isadora.
For fifteen-year-old Teavan Laurent and his older sister Suzanne, Santa Isadora seemed like a sleepy and idyllic California town to finish high school after their unexpected move west from New York City.
As he struggles to make friends in a town shrouded in secrets, Teavan soon finds himself the target of an irrational tormentor and rumored-to-be werewolf. The revenge-obsessed psycho vows to wipe out Teavan and his small family due to past wrongs beyond Teavan’s control or knowledge. The twisted legacy left to him by his late grandfather brings Teavan at odds with everything he knows to be true—or at least everything he thought to be true.
The impossible truth of the tale begins to gain traction at his first wolf sighting, and Teavan and Suzanne soon find themselves in the crosshairs of the dark and secretive lycan world of Santa Isadora.
Stalked by a legend that shouldn’t exist, Teavan must decide how far he is willing to go to save those that he loves and come to terms with what lurks from within.

EXCERPT:
The room felt crisp and refreshing as I crawled back into the cozy warmth of my covers. The comforting presence of my dog Honey’s stretched curled form was gone. “Honey”?
Only the sounds of occasional thunder and rain could be heard, along with the violent, howling winds. The big oak tree in the yard was flailing back and forth, looking like it could lose a limb.
“Honey?”
Listening for the familiar sounds of her padded footsteps, I was alarmed when I heard banging on what sounded like the front door. I almost jumped out of bed.
Who could be here, in the middle of a storm, in the middle of the night?
An uneasy feeling slid over me as I made my way to the hall, electing to keep the lights off so I could see out the windows.
Answering the door to our apartment back home at two in the morning usually meant some drunken idiot was at the wrong door and couldn’t get their key to work. But out here, there could be no mistake.
Maybe it was the outer screen door banging in the storm. The gusting winds would most likely rip it off its hinges if it weren’t pulled tightly closed. As I reached out to unlock the bolt, an unmistakable knock came from the other side, sending my heart racing.
Someone was there.
I’m not proud to admit it, but I panicked a little. A bead of sweat trickled down my cheek. Lightning occasionally illuminated the room from the front windows.
Crap.
Maybe someone needed help. Maybe someone was being chased by a wolf. Maybe it was the wolf. Except a wolf couldn’t knock on a door.
But a werewolf could.
I tried to laugh at myself to ease my own tension.
On either side of the big wooden door was a floor-to-ceiling privacy window, with white curtains covering each one. I tried to look through the somewhat transparent lace, but I couldn’t see anything, just blackness outside.
If whoever was there saw my movement, I would have no choice but to open the door.
Chancing it, I ever-so-slightly moved the curtain aside to look out on the porch. I could see nothing until the next flash of lightning lit up the sky.
A wrinkled, elderly woman sat in an antique wooden wheelchair outside our front door. The winds blew her long, white hair in all directions, but she was looking down.
My head snapped back with my heart in my throat. Surely she needed help, but she almost looked scarier than some guy dressed in black. The image of her wheelchair and wild hair flying all about terrified me.
How did she get up the steps, alone, in a wheelchair?

Author Bio:
Ryan is a husband and a father of three children. A lover of food, wine, sunshine, skiing, and fiction.
Although his background is in finance, he has always had a love of books, particularly fiction, since a young age and has been an avid reader ever since. Ryan's favorite books are deep, engrossing novels that may not necessarily win Pulitzer Prizes, but are difficult to put down.
Reading should be fun, absorbing, and a step away from our ordinary world. No matter what the critics say about the book on your nightstand, if you don't look forward to reading each night it's not the right book for you!

The past is a dangerous place in this fast-paced time travel novel...

Kathryn Spears is a skeptical producer for a TV investigative news team. So when her grandmother claims a Cherokee Indian woman is living on a neighboring farm, she dismisses it as early Alzheimer's. Because, obviously, there is no farm nearby. Not in the present anyway. But when she follows Nana's lead, Kathryn is transported back in time to the year 1840 where she finds a young Cherokee woman left behind when her family marched west on the Trail of Tears.

Forest Water is ensnared in a perilous struggle to keep her ancestral lands against a violent white man who claims the farm, and then claims her as well. Desperate to help her new friend, Kathryn becomes entangled in a battle between good and evil with much higher stakes than she imagines.

Each of these young women falls in love with a man from her own time, but there are threats, both seen and unseen, that could cost them their lives.

Excerpt

From Chapter 2

“Are you Forest Water?” I whispered.

She nodded, a hint of surprise in her expression.

“Was that your husband?” I said.

Her answer was a tired sigh.

“Were you visited by a white-haired woman a few minutes ago?”

“I warned Old Grandmother to stay away. You must also.”

“But…”

She laid the baby on the blanket, got to her feet and pushed a narrow door open at the back of the hut where I’d first entered. She slipped outside, returning with a fig in her hand.

“You must eat this and travel through the doorway,” she said, placing it in my hand.

“I have so many questions.”

She locked eyes with me as though trying to look into my soul. Having apparently come to a decision, she squatted beside the blanket, folding it back to reveal a layer of pine straw. Scraping the pine straw aside exposed the lid of a large metal box. She lifted the heavy lid and pulled out a leather pouch. From the pouch, she withdrew a book, opened it and ripped a handful of blank pages from the back. She stuffed the loose pages back inside the pouch, returned it to the box, closed the lid and covered it with the pine straw and blanket. Then she handed me the book.

“You must go,” she whispered, eyes blazing.

“But…”

She gestured for me to put the fig in my mouth as she tugged the shawl from my shoulders.

I reluctantly placed the fruit between my teeth and passed through the small doorway.

Dizziness overwhelmed me as the buzzing in my ears returned, momentarily blocking out all other sound. I found myself standing in the clearing, the fig half-chewed in my mouth. I whirled around to discover the hut no longer existed. My muscles felt as though I’d run a marathon. Not willing to trust my wobbly legs, I remained motionless, dazed by what had just happened.

There were two possibilities – the figs contained some kind of psychedelic substance, causing me to have the same hallucination Nana had, possibly by virtue of power of suggestion. Or I had traveled back in time. Which was so freaky that my skin tingled. In my business, skepticism was ingrained. I wasn’t easily taken in by a ruse. What I thought had happened could not possibly be the truth.

I looked all around the clearing for the young woman who called herself Forest Water. Then, to be sure the shack didn’t still exist, I walked back and forth over the spot where it had been. There was nothing there.

Then I remembered the book. It was solid in my hands, the brown leather smooth to the touch. The book was real. The place was real. And as much as the rational part of my brain rebelled against the idea, I knew I had somehow visited the past.

Suddenly impatient to know the story of the mysterious dark-haired beauty, I made my way to a large rock on the riverbank. I untied the strap holding the book closed and opened it with care. So many words, perhaps written with a fountain pen or a quill, the letters sometimes puddled with excess ink, sometimes as thin as a strand of hair. The ink was black, the paper a cream color and rough to the touch. But the words were not in English. I had no idea what language or alphabet I was looking at. Some of the letters were familiar, but many looked like Arabic or Greek.

Carefully flipping the pages, I discovered the entire book was written in this foreign language. Completely inaccessible to me. I had to talk with Nana.

But Tyler’s presence awakens something else in Lucy, and with this new knowledge, she will be forced to make impossible decisions. Decisions that will change history, and the future.

Chilling, haunting and compelling, this novel is the first in a two-part series for fans of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and The Hidden

Lucid intrigued me and was tempting me like a forbidden sweet. The blurb made me want to understand the world Lucy lives in. She is haunted by the reality of her dreams. She sees people’s deaths and witnesses the brutality. One dream, in particular, holds a secret. She meets a boy who is about to become her past, future and present. This is a romance with a fantasy element. It’s the first book in a series and will leave you wanting more.

Tyler is the boy of her dreams. His name rings a bell and his presence sets a domino effect of events. Her dreams are about to start a new future. The two worlds are about to collide.

This is an interesting start to a series and outside the box. It gives enough to satisfy thirst but will leave you wanting more.

4 stars out of 5. It’s hard to rate a book that leaves you with unanswered questions but it’s definitely worth the read. Let’s hope the sequel lives up to the hype.

Kristy Fairlamb is an Australian author of the Young Adult Lucid series coming out in 2019.

She spends her days drinking coffee and torturing her characters with loads of tension – both love related and the nail biting kind.

Long before her days of writing began she spent half her childhood in a make believe world; daydreaming about growing up, falling in love, and travelling the world.

She’s worked as a nanny in country England, a junior matron in a boy’s boarding school south of London, a governess in East Timor, and made coffees and cleared tables in the New South Wales snow fields.

She lives with her husband, teenage daughter, and two sons in the beautiful Adelaide Hills where they’re lucky enough to get occasional visits from the local koalas.

She’s terrible at gardening, likes her bookshelves sorted by colour, and recently checked off a lifelong dream of jumping from a plane.

When she’s not writing or daydreaming about her stories you’ll find her reading, cooking for her family, or doing anything to avoid the housework.
