True Love Series Tour and Giveaway!

True Love Never Fails
True Love Book 1
by Debra-Ann Kummoung
Genre: Historical Romance

From the family lives of the Bennet sisters and their characterful parents, to the hidden charm, grace, and elegance of the unflappable Mr. Darcy, it might seem as if fans of Austen’s timeless classic, Pride & Prejudice, know all there is to know about this truly great novel. However, within the pages of this much-loved book, there are questions which call out for answers… the greatest of which are: what if everything we believed to be true about the Bennets and their fellow characters was, in fact, a veneer for something quite different? What if the behavior and intentions of the iconic sisters was all an act? And what if Mr. Darcy, Mr. Bingley, and all the other refined gentlemen of Pemberley and beyond were not the genteel and mannered men we saw them to be?

Such questions, such mysteries, and such tantalizing possibilities form the backbone of True Love Never Fails, a daring and bold reimagining of Jane Austen’s most famed and adored work. Throughout the pages of this stunning novel, which abounds in all that we fell in love with in the chapters of Pride & Prejudice - and much more besides - we’re left second-guessing every motive, every word, and every eventuality we thought we knew so well. As readers, we’re taken into the heart of a dazzling set of cliff-hangers and revealed truths… and we’ll never be able to look our favorite characters in the same way again.

Alongside the rollicking storyline that weaves its way through the moral mazes of 18th century English high society, True Love Never Fails introduces its readers to the elusive and serious Mary Bennet. She’s a sister with a secret, and one who holds the key to the heart of the fun-loving Colonel Fitzwilliam, around whom a spiraling storyline forms. As revelation follows revelation, hearts will be broken, bonds will be formed, and the truth behind this timeless novel will be reimagined and revealed. Thanks to the astonishing deftness of the storytelling, and the author’s keen eye for a twist and tantalizing details, readers will find themselves on a new ride through a familiar landscape that’s as breathlessly romantic as it is captivating. From the first page you’ll be hooked, and by the time you reach the the very last, you’ll be calling out for more from this awe-inspiring retelling of Austen’s masterpiece.

Warning - Cliffhanger!

“Look, Lizzy. There is one for each of us. Which one shall you have? Shall you have the tall man on the dark horse or the slightly shorter man on the white horse?”
Arching a brow at her sister, Elizabeth inquired, “And how can you tell that the man on the dark horse is taller than the one on the white horse?”
“I cannot tell, really,” Jane grinned, “it is just that the man on the darker horse is sitting so much taller and straighter. The other young man looks most interested in racing that he is bent over his horse.”
The sisters giggled together turning their back on the field and make their way to the flower covered bushes. “Well Jane, since you have often accused me of being a ‘dark horse’, I will take the taller man on the dark horse.” This set the sisters into peals of laughter.

True Love Conquers All
True Love Book 2

In the anticipated conclusion, True Love Conquers All, author Debra-Ann Kummoung returns you to her unique Pride & Prejudice retelling just hours after the shocking ending in True Love Never Fails… which had cost Mary Bennet her new engagement to Colonel Fitzwilliam.

Elizabeth and Jane along with Darcy and Bingley try to console Mary in the aftermath. Family and friends try to bring our couple back together again, but both are stubborn in their refusal to see the other.

Recalled to war, Colonel Fitzwilliam must depart England, leaving behind his family and friends and most importantly his heart. With the reappearance of an old friend to help him in this difficult time, Colonel Fitzwilliam despairs that he has lost the only lady he has ever loved.

Join the journey across the treacherous ocean to the bustling shores of Portugal and on to the battlefields of Spain. With surprising twists and turns and the steadfastness of a young lady’s heart, discover the truth that true love never fails, but rather despite all obstacles, true love conquers all.

“Ah, Geoffrey, we were just speaking of you. Come in, I believe we need to have a conversation.”
Geoffrey dropped into an armchair with ill grace. “Let me guess, you are aware of what happened at Darcy House.”
His mother confirmed. “Geoffrey, you know that we love you very much, but I cannot understand how all this could have come to pass. How could you accuse Miss Mary of such things? I imagine that you have just come from Darcy’s where you have since learned that the Bennets have departed from his home so as not to cause discomfort for our family. The Bennets did not have to show such kind consideration when you stop and think that in a few weeks, Miss Elizabeth will be mistress of that house and she controls who gains entry there and she could persuade Darcy not to allow you admittance there. It would be in your best interest to apologize to Mr. Bennet and to Miss Mary.”

I fell in love with Pride & Prejudice when I read it in high school. Something about that time - the courtly manners of society, the clothing, and so many other things. Don't get me a wrong, I'm a modern girl and wouldn't last a day without my modern conveniences, but I can still fantasize about that time period.

My husband is my inspiration for Mr. Darcy & Colonel Fitzwilliam (when the good colonel appears in one of my books). My husband has the manners of Darcy but has been a military man like the colonel - so I got both in one man.

In 2020, I will be release the conclusion to True Love Never Fails... and I will be working on a new book - Mr. Darcy's Cinderella Bride. I will also be doing a gentle edit on Falling for Elizabeth Bennet.

Poor Florida Cracker Tour and Giveaway!

Poor Florida Cracker
by Chelsea Falin
Genre: YA Coming of Age

Sissy Collet and her siblings have grown up with neglectful parents, impoverished, and bullied by their small town. When they finally get their chance to break free, they take it - despite having the odds stacked against their favor. With nothing except a half-cooked scheme and an old beater, they set off without a set destination in the hopes they will finally be free of the baggage holding them back. Will Sissy get her happily ever after? Or will she never be anything more than a Poor Florida Cracker?

Jesse said nothing as he disappeared into the bedroom to change. He returned shortly wearing only frayed jean cutoffs that had seen better days. Neither of my brothers wore shirts unless necessary. I couldn’t blame them. If it hadn’t been inappropriate, I would’ve gone shirtless, too. As it was, I wore a pair of denim shorts and a light blue spaghetti-strapped tank top that was faded and worn with age.
The hot, humid Florida weather was unbearable, even for natives. We had no air conditioning to help take the edge off, so we made do with a few circulating fans and open windows. The heat emanating from the stove wasn’t helping. I was drenched in sweat.
“You go to school today?” I avoided looking my brother in the face and shook my head to say I hadn’t. School was to be avoided at all costs. There, I was the victim of heartless bullying and dropping grades. It was the epitome of my own personal hell. “You need to go to school. At least try, y’ know? Else child services will be back.”
I didn’t answer, fixing my attention on the food. Jesse let out an exasperated sigh, knowing it was useless to argue and walked outside. From the kitchen window, I saw him sitting beneath the only tree in our measly backyard plot. Resting his head against the trunk, Jesse bent his knees close to his chest and closed his eyes. I bet it’s cooler out there, I thought.

EXCERPT:
When I reached the arena once more, I plucked my coat from the ground and hurriedly put it back on, shivering. Devian caught up to me just as I was heading for the gates. “Where are you going?” he asked, his tone stiffening slightly. I cast him a shadowy look.
“Away from here,” I said thickly. Devian inhaled slowly, then made for me, but I was already turning away and pushing forward. He called out again before I broke into a run.
It was foolish, I know. I would never get away from him. He’d catch up, set guards on me—hell, I wouldn’t make it through a single court on my own. That being said, my heart didn’t sink too much when Devian’s grip locked onto my wrist.
“Valarie,” he said, his voice low. I whipped my gaze back to him, glaring.
“How dare you?” I seethed, my eyes alight with anger. Yanking my arm from his grip, I added, “don’t you ever do something like that to me again!”
“We had to Valarie—the situation is dire, and we needed to be sure—”
I let out an incredulous laugh and stared widely at him. “So having a stranger attack me was the easiest way to see if I could summon magic? Have you ever heard of asking nicely?”
Devian gave me a pointed look. “It wouldn’t have worked. We had to rely on instincts to kick in. You couldn’t have known.”
I took a menacing step towards him and shoved him—just enough to set him off balance.
“You scared me half to death,” I growled. “I thought Stellena had come to kill me…or worse. I thought you were in trouble, and yet, you were behind the whole thing! How am I ever going to trust you again?”
Devian’s face fell, and he went a little white. “You trusted me?”
I let out a single, short laugh. “I won’t make that mistake again,” I said darkly, before turning to leave. He grabbed me again, this time rougher, and pinned me against the side pillars leading to the gates. I flinched, my skin prickling at his tight grip on my upper arms. Suddenly, I didn’t feel as safe as I once had, and a wave of hurt washed through me at the betrayal.
“Let me go,” I said slowly, but my voice had lost its courage. He glared at me.
“Do you think this is easy for me?” he asked, and there was a hint of instability in his even tone. “Do you think I enjoy seeing you unhappy? I know I’ve done some bad things, but I am not a monster.”

SUGARCOATED! #BlogTour

Sugarcoated - BT Banner.jpg
"You can always count on Erin Nicholas for fun, sexy contemporary romance."―Melissa Foster, New York Times bestselling author
Sugarcoated, an all-new sexy and laugh-out-loud standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Erin Nicholas, is out now!
Sugarcoated300
She's his best friend's little sister. He's known her all his life. He's practically part of the family. There is nothing either of them could do to surprise the other at this point.
Then she showed up in his bedroom in lingerie and asked him to take her V-card.
Now, that was a surprise.
Aiden is pretty sure Zoe was equally surprised when he told her no.
To say that he didn't handle it well would be a massive understatement. Almost as massive as the amount of work he's going to have to do now to convince her that he wants her. Forever.
Right after he tells her that he's bought the company that's her bakery’s biggest competitor.
Maybe if he tells her he’s in love with her first, that will help sugarcoat the whole we're-rivals-in-business-now thing.
So, first "I'm in love with you", then "take off your clothes", then "I'm now your business adversary".
Piece of cake.

Excerpt:
“What?” she asked, her eyes wide and blinking. “You thought I’d just be waiting around for you to come back?”
“Yes!” It was the wrong answer, he knew, even as he said it. But it was true.
“You are so full of yourself!” She frowned. “You actually thought I’d be waiting around, pining for you, didn’t you?”
Maybe not crying herself to sleep every night, but thinking about him? Yeah. Fuck. He hadn’t been able to get her out of his mind for more than a few hours at a time. “It’s only been five months,” he said. “Is it really crazy for me to think that you didn’t get your virginity ‘taken care of’ yet?”
“Exactly! It’s been five months!” she said.
“You went twenty-five years without sex, and you couldn’t go five more months?”
“Well, it’s not like you gave me an IOU!” she shot back. “I had no idea when you were coming back, and I assumed your answer would have still been no. So yeah, I moved on, Aiden.”
“Who was it?” he asked, noting his tone was suddenly a little ominous.
“I’m not telling you that.” She looked at him like he was insane.
“Tell me, Zoe.”
No.”
“I’ll find out. This is Appleby. I’ll probably know by the end of tonight.”
“You won’t.” She lifted her chin. “I can promise you that.”
“Bet I do.”
“Why do you really even care? Now you don’t have to do it.”
“Because you’re mine.”
Yeah, shit. See, he’d known that was the wrong answer to give. Guys didn’t go around claiming women like they were property or possessions. He knew that. He’d never had that urge before. This woman was strong and independent and confident and certainly didn’t need him for anything.
But the idea of another man touching her, seeing her naked, making her feel the ultimate pleasure, made his blood boil.
She stood, just staring at him. Then she picked up a cake ball. And threw it at him. It hit him square in the red tie and bounced back onto the table.
“You’re a jerk.”
Yeah, maybe he was. A nice guy would probably just take all her explanations and excuses about why they shouldn’t be together and admit his idea was crazy.
He didn’t say anything. He didn’t wipe away the sticky crumbs the cake ball left on his tie. He picked up the ball and rounded the worktable.
Her eyes widened, and she backed up as he came closer. He kept going. Until her back was against the front of the fridge.
He didn’t say a word as he stopped right in front of her, lifted his hand to cup her face, and leaned in.
Aiden ignored her hands on his chest. She wasn’t pushing. She wasn’t pulling him closer either, but she wasn’t trying to get away. She wasn’t lifting her knee to his balls. She wasn’t saying no.
He stared into her eyes for a long moment. She could stop this. He knew she knew that.
She didn’t.
So he kissed her.

Yet Today Tour and Giveaway!

Yet Today
by Anthony Caplan
Genre: Contemporary Family Thriller

School's out for summer, and that's when Gillum Kaosky heads for the exits. Poised somewhere between neediness and nothingness, Kaosky sets out for summer adventures.
Gillum is a Spanish teacher. He's been married for twenty years and has three children with his wife Sibyl. They have raised their family on a farm in central New Hampshire. But this summer, Gillum lands a job that will change everything: wire-tapping the Dominican crime families responsible for bringing heroin and fentanyl into northern New England. Meanwhile, his son, Jonah breaks into the Department of Defense in a hack attempt that lands him in jail. Nothing remains the same, and love does not always conquer all in Yet Today, a thrilling, contemporary family saga from Anthony Caplan.

Outside, on the streets of the town, there was an odd calm, as if the panic he felt were truly an illusion. The rest of creation seemed to be awaiting the further development of nothing extraordinary. He stopped at a traffic light and checked the faces of the oncoming motorists. They seemed astonishingly ugly in their cheap, mirrored sunglasses, their cheesy grimaces protecting against the glaring noonday sun. Out on the ruined strip, with its line of closed, boarded up storefronts, was a Dollar Store and several ancient fast food restaurants. On the corner was the multilevel furniture outlet blaring deals in some ballooning white lettering from its glassed front. It had been there forever, surviving downturns and boom times with an equanimous allegiance to the balloon font, attracting shoppers from as far afield as Quebec and New York State with its specials on Chinese futons and designer mattresses. The yearning for a good night’s sleep was apparently a constant through thick and thin. Next to it was a new vape shop with the logo of an aquamarine unicorn that already seemed tawdry and dated, as if that was part of the appeal. He parked in the lot next to the vape shop. The clientele here had moved beyond yearning for sleep to hankering after the deep six. It seemed to Kaosky a logical if somewhat depressing progression. Next down was the New Hampshire Liquor and Wine outlet. Out the door of the vape shop stepped a young woman with thin arms and an illegible tattoo sprawling across one shoulder, barely covered by a thin spaghetti strap. Her pelvic bones
extended above her jeans. They avoided eye contact, but her tilting step caught Kaosky by surprise, as he tried and failed to evade her.
“Excuse me,” he said.
“Jesus Lord. I’m sorry,” said the young woman in a raspy, high voice, like compressed air releasing from a leak.
“That’s okay,” said Kaosky.
“Wouldn’t have a fiver, would you?” she asked. Her head seemed to wobble for a second as if she was about to fall.
“No, I’m sorry. I don’t carry cash.”
“That’s not great.”
“Sorry.”
“You already said that. You think I didn’t hear you?”
“No. You heard me fine, I’m sure.”
Kaosky stepped by her on the sidewalk and checked himself mentally. He turned to the girl. She glared at him, but despite her anger there was something in her look, a weakness that seemed almost pure in its acceptance of infirmity. She wasn’t hiding her desperation and lack of recourse to anything beyond her words and sharp anger.
“You want something to eat?”
“Uh. Why?”
“Well, I’d go into the Burger King there and get you something.”
“That’s across the street. Why didn’t you park there?” She was disgusted by him.
“I would go there if you were interested. I’m sorry.”
“Holy shit, you really are a creep. I’m looking for some cigarettes. I’m sure you don’t smoke.”
“I used to.”
"You quit or something. Right? Nothing worse than a quitter.”
“It’s been a long time. What do you smoke?”
“Kools.”
She must have been no more than eighteen or nineteen despite the lines around her eyes and the sunken cheeks.
Kaosky picked out a six-pack of something called Jackman’s Victory Ale, a local craft beer with an alcoholic content of seven percent. At the checkout he asked for a carton of mentholated cigarettes. He looked to the sliding front door. Two older men walked in, both wearing Patriots ball caps, plaid flannel shirts and olive green Dickies despite the weather. He
thought he saw the girl, but he wasn’t sure. She could have gone already. But when he walked out there she was, waiting around the corner, leaning against one of three yellow steel bollards installed in front of the parking lot, some subliminal iteration of state power.
“I got you these,” he said, holding up the pack of cigarettes.
“Sweet,” she said, but stayed leaning against the bollard. Her frailty had a stink to it.
“But I got a question for you.”
“Anything you want, mister. That’s real nice of you.”
“I want you to do something with these. Not just smoke ‘em.”
“What else you going to do with cigarettes?” she asked teasingly, her curiosity piqued.
“I don’t know. Go home and talk to your family.”
“I don’t have family. My mother’s dead and my father’s some shithead I don’t even know. Last I heard he was in the VA hospital with stage four pancreatic cancer or something. Good riddance.”
“You’ve got a family. Grandparents. Cousins. Somebody who will take you in somewhere.”
She opened the carton, used her teeth to rip the cellophane off a pack and knocked it against the flat of her hand to dislodge the first one.
“You want a smoke?” She held out the pack with the protruding white tip invitingly.
“No, thanks,” said Kaosky, disgusted, waving it away.
In the car, he started the ignition and fiddled with the radio dial. His hands were shaking with the pent up nerves of what he’d done. He watched his hands with a sense of distance, as if they weren’t really his hands. He’d been acting the part of the philanthropist, buying the girl the carton of cigarettes and then setting her up with the promise of grandiose things. It was all such an absurd act, reading of lines from some ideal prompter. He had no idea from where the impulse had come to him. Since the day in the woods watching the children and Sibyl behind the trees, he’d fallen into a spell, watching his life, observing instead of doing, as if he’d taken a turn into another reality and he was stuck now watching from the old space, doing and feeling in ways that were incompatible with his former self, not able to stop. He should have taken a cigarette; he felt like he needed one now.

Gifts of Fire and Ice

Genre: YA Fantasy, Coming of Age

The Gift of Fire to Save Us...
The Gift of Fire to Awaken Us...

Valinet is a gifter. She's good with fire magic, but little does she know she is one of the most powerful gifters of the empire. Pushed apart by fate, they struggle to stay connected to one another, while noble Bloodlines seek their own ambitions. Are the Bloodlines seeking Valinet? Will they seek to employ her or try to take her power? Can serg keep himself out of the watchful eyes of the Bloodlines?

Gifts of Fire and Ice is book one of the FireNight Prophecies. It brings the Fire Empire into focus just as it is starting to unravel. Noble Bloodlines seek to weaken the emperor's grasp, pulling in Valinet, Serg, and even the emperor's own children. They must play every hand they have to win.

Regel tested the shackles on his wrists while they walked. There didn’t seem to be any way to get them off without the key. He knew which guard had the key, the one with the old, white scar on his left cheek. But how was he going to overpower a half dozen guards and get the keys before more guards came? He needed the other two men to work with him, but that seemed to be a lost hope. “Where are you taking us?” Regel asked the guards. “We are taking you out to get some exercise,” responded the guard nearest him. One of the other guards snickered softly, apparently finding it amusing. “You know,” said Regel, “I don’t feel like exercise today. Could I perhaps go back to my cell, and we can do this in the morning?” “Sorry, captain’s orders. We are to take you three out to the courtyard to let you get some sun and exercise,” stated the same guard. “Yeah, you guys have been locked up too long,” spoke a second guard. “It will do you some good to get some exercise. Maybe stretch a little and loosen a little tension in your necks.” Two of the guards snickered at that statement. Well, he wasn’t stupid. Regel knew what they meant to do to them in the courtyard. It was time to look for any opening, and maybe he would have to scream for help. The guards marched them down the long hall and through two sets of doors before they came to an archway leading out into a small courtyard. Two of the guards moved ahead of the others and entered first. The other four pushed them along from behind. They hastily stepped out into the sunshine. It was more of a back alley than an open courtyard. Without wasting any time, two of the men grabbed Jemen first and stood him near the wall. The guard who must be in charge spoke. “You have been charged with being a user of ice magic. You have been found guilty and are hereby sentenced to death. Do you have any last words, icer?” Jemen looked at the guards and then at his surroundings, but just hung his head in defeat. The two guards forced him to his knees, and a third guard stepped forward. Regel scanned the situation. Ok, three of them were occupied with Jemen. Darren Boeck is an avid reader of both science fiction and fantasy novels. Having spent decades reading them, he finally decided to put pen to paper (or keyboard to word processor) and wrote his own. With a Master's degree in Cyber Security and way too many hours behind the glow of a computer screen, he has taken a leap from the logic of the computer realm into a realm of YA fantasy. When not working on this current series, he can be found navigating life with his wife, four daughters, and two dogs.
