Ditched (Harmony Bay #1)

Amity Hope

Book Review:

The title and cover work for this book pretty much explain to you the basis of this story. By the time you have the synopsis, you have everything you need to decide whether it's the book for you. It is what you expect, and it was an enjoyable read.

Ditched is about a girl who leaves her future husband at the altar. Holly had her whole life planned out. She was going to marry her childhood sweetheart, get a degree in journalism and live happily ever after. This was everything she thought she ever wanted but when her future husband throws a spanner in the works her hand is forced in another direction.
Max has been in love with Holly since forever. He has watched her on and off relationship with Colin follow it's rocky path for years hoping he would eventually get his chance to prove he could offer her so much more but when she ounces her engagement he thinks it's all over. He decides it time to find a fresh start. When Holly discovers the truth about Colin, she decides to leave town with Max. Now he has Holly all to himself. He has to work out if he can make her see he might just be the one for her. This book is a standalone novel however it says it's a two-part story. It has no cliffhanger. Both are available for kindle unlimited so it would be free to read the next installment. However, I don't think it's essential, and the next book has a lot fewer pages.

4.5 stars out of 5. If you like the sound of the synopsis, then this is the book for you. This is a sweet story. It is a clean read, however, in this case, I think a few more details may have added to the romance.

Rock's Redemption

Rock's Redemption (Insurgents MC #8)

Chiah Wilder

Book Review:

Chiah Wilder has done it again. Book 8 in the Mc insurgents series and a completely new original story. These can be read as standalone stories or as a series (I'd recommend you read them in order). They have everything I like in a good book; Alpha male, romance and a good mystery.

Rock and Clotille were best friends growing up, but somehow their friendship didn't quite work out.
Rock is the sergeant at arms for the insurgents. His job is to keep the peace and help with security jobs. He loves the MC lifestyle fast bikes, lose women and the brotherhood.

A favour is called in, and the club members end up covering a security job with Rock being in charge. A rich guy wants some muscle at his mansion while he hosts a sex party. His girlfriend is treated more like an animal than a human being, and this settles uneasily with Rock.

Clotille notices Rocks presence straight away, but she doesn't want him to know of her new lifestyle. When he last saw her, she was a spoilt rich girl from the right side of the tracks. This is a story of two people already in love but never quite getting it right.

4.5 stars out of 5. Another unique story to add to the Insurgents collection. Once you've read one of them, you most certainly haven't read the rest. I just can't get enough, and all the books are free for Kindle Unlimited readers.

Taken by the Hitman

Taken by the Hitman

by Alexis Abbott, Alex Abbott

Book Review:

Alexis Abbott has written a series of standalone Hitman novels. They are all similar but different enough to be worth reading.

Rosie is the perfect damsel in distress. She comes from a broken home that is beyond repair. A poor upbringing is an understatement. On her birthday her dad uses her as leverage to clear his debts.

Konstantin is gifted Rosie to prove his loyalty. It's inhuman and given at gun point. Konstantin wants to set things right. He intends to set the innocent free and mend what is wrong with the scenario he finds himself in. He sees Rosie for what she is and can't help but falls for her.

This one reminds me of Robin Hood; take from the bad and give to the good.

*This book contains sexual themes which some readers may find offensive*

The Rules Bundle (The Rules #1-3)

The Rules Bundle (The Rules #1-3)

Monica Murphy

Book Review: ♥ ♥

I read the first book a while ago however, I bought this bundle as it was cheaper than buying one book separately. I've read a lot of Monica Murphy's books, and I know they are going to be good without even opening them.

Fair Game

"When your boyfriend bets YOU in a poker game, you better know when to run…"
I even love the synopsis for this book.

You know your relationship is over when your boyfriend is willing to bet you in a poker game. It's even worse if he loses that bet, what a joke. Jade now finds herself entangled in a deal with the super attractive and super rich Shed Prescott. Women flock to him like sheep, but for some reason, he's determined to claim the prize girl of his bet. Jade can't seem to do anything to shake his Interest off her and finds herself liking what she sees but could Shep really be interested in keeping her?

In the Dark

Gabe is away on a lame vacation with his family for the summer. He needs to find some entertainment to pass the time and he finds himself bird watching with the hot sexy thing from next door. A summer fling sounds perfect to brighten up his summer, but Lucy isn't all she seems. She's not the spoilt brat he thought she was.

Lucy is house sitting for the summer, taking full advantage of the pool and hot weather. She sparks the attention of her hot temporary neighbour and can't resist playing the part of the rich, carefree girl from next door. It's only going to last the summer, how hard can it be?

Slow Play

Alexandria needs a fresh start, with her parents in jail and her reputation in tatters she wants to hide away from her past and wipe the slate clean, so she changes her surname and settles into normal life. She exchanges money and family for friends and education. Tristan is everything she is trying to avoid. He's rich, arrogant and a total player. Tristan treats women like his personal toys and then throws them away. It is everything she doesn't need, but he's up for the challenge of making her his latest conquest. Can you really have a relationship with someone who is scared of commitment?

I really enjoyed this series. The characters are all interlinked, and I would recommend you start with the first book. These books are £2.50 approximately each, or the bundle was approximately £2.00 for all 3.

The books have a common theme of rich boy meets poor girl. The girls are all from different backgrounds and are strong independent women. The men are very close friends/related. The first book was my favourite, but all were worth reading. I've tried to find stories similar to the first but never had any success which is a shame.

I loved this series and other books by this author.

5 stars out of 5. Enjoyable, fun, lighthearted reads. Aimed at the age group of 16 plus (U.K.).

Beautiful Redemption

Beautiful Redemption (The Maddox Brothers #2)

This book was okay but didn't have a patch on beautiful disaster. Dating someone who is still in love with their ex is a big turn off for me and that was my main problem with this book.

Liis has just moved to San Diego for a fresh start. She has taken a new job and ditched the old boyfriend. She spends her first night in the local pub and decides to let loose. After a hot streamy night with a total stranger Liis is ready to settle into her new job. Unfortunately her new boss is her one night stand and a total hard ass. Liis has to show she won't lie down and just take his crap.

Thomas has been nursing a broken heart for sometime now. When Liis walks into his life he may have just found the answer to all his prayers. This story is slightly inter twined into a beautiful disaster. It can be read as a standalone. If your looking for something to blow you away this isn't that book but if you go into it without expectation, it's a good easy bedtime read.

Punk 57

Punk 57

Penelope Douglas is a legend. She wrote my favourite book and for that matter my favourite series of books. Her writing isn't for everyone. It's controversial and could quite easily give you the best roller coaster ride of your life.

Punk 57 is her new book and it doesn't disappoint. Ryen and Misha have been writing to each other for years. They fit perfectly until they meet. In letters you can express your inner most feelings and don't have to worry about the other persons reaction. Ryen has learnt to conform in her real life. She wants to fit in and is willing to pay whatever the price. She's popular, mean and a spoilt princess but everything about her is fake and ugly.

Misha doesn't really like people. He doesn't conform and he's happy to do his own thing. The night he meets Ryen his life changes forever. She doesn't know it yet but he's about to take her for one hell of a ride.

Be true to yourself and own it!

Ex-Wives of Dracula

Ex-Wives of Dracula

This book definitely offered something different. It's has an original storyline, Whitty banter and is long enough to sink your teeth into it.

Mindy became uncool as she progressed into high school where as her ex bestie became the definition of the word. Lucia is beautiful, popular, part of the cheerleading squad and has the stud boyfriend. Mindy has no social life or friends and high school is more like a mine field. Even worse she is trying to figure out who she is when the whole world has already decided.

After years of living next door to each other and not seeing each other something has changed. Lucia wants Mindy back in her life even if she doesn't fit. Throw in some vampire problems as well as some confused sexual orientation and we have a whole lot of book.

3.5 stars out of 5. If you are looking for something different to refresh your pages this would do the trick.

Shiftless (Wolf Rampant #1)

Free kindle book!

This is the first shifter book I have enjoyed which didn't follow the usual urban legend about werewolves.

Terra found it difficult to fit into the pack under her unbearable alpha father so even though wolves take comfort in company, she decides it's better to go it alone. She becomes disconnected from her wolf in the human world in the hope of finding inner piece. Years later her dad wants her back and gives her an ultimatum, give me a grandson or train yours sisters son. Neither option is fair but it's him or her. She sets out to track her nephew down and gets more than she could ever wish for.

Loved this book 5 out of 5. It does leave the book ready for the next instalment however gives enough to quench ones thirst.

Aster Layne believes in physics, not psychics. A tarot card reading on the Ocean City Boardwalk should have been a ridiculous, just-for-fun thing. It wasn’t. Aster discovers she has a very unscientific gift—with a simple touch of the cards, she can change a person’s fate.

Reese Van Buren is cursed. Like the kind of old-school, centuries-old curse that runs in royal families. Every firstborn son is doomed to die on his eighteenth birthday—and Reese’s is coming up fast. Bummer. He tries to distract himself from his inevitable death…only to find the one person who can save him.

Aster doesn’t know that the hot Dutch guy she’s just met needs her help–or that he’s about to die.

But worst of all…she doesn’t know that her new gift comes with dark, dark consequences that can harm everyone she loves.

A Year and a Day

A Year and a Day

I really liked this book. It is beautifully crafted together, giving 3 stories in one which are inter-linked. I've never been to Prague but I have to say this book was better than any guide could be and really did sell the place as somewhere you should visit.

Megan has been best friends with Ollie for the past 6 months but has kept their relationship strictly platonic. He is a teacher and wants to gain a better understanding of Prague for his next school year. He invites her to go on holiday with him and she jumps at the chance to explore her own hobby of photography. She aims to keep their relationship in the friends zone but with the magic of the city can Ollie convince her they can be so much more?

Hope has a new partner and they are still in the honeymoon period. Her new partner whisks her off for a trip to Prague. Everything is fresh and exciting with her new man but she is troubled by her family problems. Her daughter has fallen out with her and she is trying her best to stop it from ruining her trip. Will her new relationship work out and will her daughter forgive her indiscretions?

Sophie finds herself in Prague alone waiting for her husband to be. He is delayed in his departure and she finds herself reflecting in their relationship as she visits the places they both loved.

This is a story about friendship, love and a beautiful city. The story is so cleverly crafted it is hard to explain in a review my advice is to read the book. It will not disappoint.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #1)

I really struggled with this book. It has such good ratings I wanted to finish it so I persevered. It did get better however overall I’m glad I only paid the special offer price of 99p not £4.99. I’m normally a fan of fantasy books but one thing I didn’t like about this book was the names of the characters, I would have preferred something catchier. The storyline was good however I found myself wanting to put the book down a lot and struggling to pick it back up. I have to say my opinion certainly does not reflect the majority of readers and I guess this shows that books are about the individual person.
Karou lives in the human world but has connections to the magical one. She was raised by the magical world but has only dipped her toe into the unknown. She lives in Prague and loves to fill her time with art. She runs errands for the creatures that raised her when they call and doesn’t ask any questions. Her life is a mystery even to her but the truth doesn’t always set you free. The truth isn’t always what you want to hear.

This book is 1 of 3 and is an unfinished story. The books are all £4.99 in price which I think is expensive.
