From What I Remember...
Stacy Kramer, Val Thomas
Book Review: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ +
I loved this book. It's
been a while since I read an actual printed book and I'd forgotten how
nice it is. This story had everything for me. It was a cross between the
hangover, breakfast club and she's all that. I loved the movie quotes
at the beginning of each chapter and the characters were all full of
life. The book is told from 5 points of view; Kylie the smart one, Max
the popular one, lily the mean girl, Will the gay sassy one and Jake
(Kylies younger brother who has learning difficulties).
The story is basically like a marble run; once it starts it's one hell of a ride. One discussion leads to a train wreck which could just change everything.
It's set in high school around graduation time. Kylie is valedictorian, the perfect student but other than her best friend Will her high school experience has been limited. She doesn't let her hair down or join in with others. The last week of school she is set the task of pairing up with Max to write an essay on their favourite books. No one else in the class is doing the assignment but Kylie just can't let it go even if it doesn't matter.
Max try's to blow the assignment off but the class geek is literally hunting him down. She offers to write the whole thing all she needs is a few minutes of this time. After much persistence on Kylie's part he agrees to meet her at Starbucks. One little decision can change everything.
Will is Kylie's best friend and knight in shining armour. He can't quite believe the mess she has gotten into but he's ready to jump on board her crazy adventure and rescue her.
Lily is Max's girlfriend and the token mean girl. In my opinion you just can quite feel sorry for her but her character fits nicely into the storyline.
Kylie is Jake's life line but how is he going to cope when she leaves for university. He's about to get a taste of what it is like for her to be missing even if it is just for a short while.
This book is funny and crazy fun. 5 stars plus like I said I loved it. I'd recommend you download the sample from Amazon and if you pick his book up I doubt you'll put it down. When you read the opening chapter the story feels a little far fetched but by the end I was convinced it really could happen!!
This book cost me approximately £4 from the Amazon market place (hardback). Well worth the money.
5* plus
