First

First

This was two stories in one book which were about the same in length. The stories are intertwined and both are equally good. I may have slightly favoured the first story but only because it had more sass and that’s what I like.

Maya and Cat are two best friends so are inseparable, they do everything together. They are just about to graduate college and unsure where their paths will lead them.
Jake is Cats older brother and Maya has marked him as off limits but after a drunken night they end up in bed together. They have a love hate relationship and don’t normally let their guards down. Neither of them wants it to ruin their relationship and decide sleeping together cannot happen again. However that does not mean they can hide from their feelings for each other.

Cat has a thing for her brother’s best friend, Dallas. Cat and Dallas have a tight relationship and are really good friends. Graduation is approaching fast and the pair are about to go their separate ways but Cat has one more favour to ask of Dallas before he goes. She wants her first night of passion to be with him all she has to do is convince him it will not ruin anyone’s friendships.
This book is about taking a chance on love and putting yourself out there. Cat and Jakes parents died when they were younger and they only have each other. They have a strong bond and want to keep it that way. Both Maya and Dallas are aware of their strong family connection. This book may have a tragic past however it is not the focus of the book which I was glad about.

I really enjoyed this read it was fun, passionate, quick paced and witty. Basically my kind of book.

5 stars out of 5. Highly recommended.

Eight to Midnight

Eight to Midnight: A Best Friends Romance (Episode 1)

This was a good start to a series of books. I have been lucky enough to have had an advanced copy of the whole series and I have to say I’m a fan. The writing style is addictive. The books are written in short stories and are not really standalones; each instalment helps build the picture.

Episode one sets the scene and introduces us to the characters. They are all unique and diverse.
They are four friends who are unlucky in love. They all have their flaws and Sara thinks she may have worked out their problems. They need to stop making the same mistakes and find a different type of relationship. One drunken night she comes up with a plan that they can all help each other out.

Hearts in Darkness

Hearts in Darkness

I was looking for another stranded on a desert island book because I was really in the mood for that kind of story so I searched the Goodread’s data base and came up with this category; Trapped/Stranded/Wilderness Romance Books. Hearts in Darkness rated number two and I knew I just had to read it. Okay so it is not a desert island instead it is set in a lift.

Makenna is having the day from hell. All she wants to do is go home open a bottle of wine and sit in front of the television. As she is leaving work she drops her phone and doesn’t realise the battery has fallen out as she steps into the lift. She is too wrapped up in herself to notice anything about the good Samaritan who holds the door for her.
Caden has just left a meeting in the building that Makenna works in. He doesn’t know her but notices her beautiful red hair. The lift has just set off down to the ground floor when the lights go out and the lift gets stuck! Caden doesn’t like enclosed spaces and needs to find a distraction.
These two strangers are in the wrong place at the right time. They need each other they just don’t know it yet. Fate throws them the ball they need in this sweet but hot romance novel.
I have to admit tragic pasts aren’t really my thing but in this book it worked. The lift adventure brings them together when they shut everyone else out. 4.5 stars out of 5.

This book was 99p on Amazon and totally worth it and better still now is the time to read it as the sequel is due out January 12th.

She's With Me

Short exotic story about two good friends. Izzy is a straight women with a lesbian best friend Meeka.
They enjoy the usual things friends do like watching films together and going out drinking in town.
Meeka doesn't usually get naughty thoughts about her straight friends but Izzy is different. The rules are about to be broken in this X-rated short read.

4 stars.

Lost

Lost (The Caelian Cycle #1)

This book was creative and a good start to a series of books. Lost is about an unordinary orphan girl called Sadie. She doesn’t know much about her family but she has managed to find her own alternative one, made up of other orphans.

The book is set 100 years after the world is exposed to radiation from a meteorite changing DNA of the people affected. The world is divided into two sets of humans, those affected and those who escaped exposure. The affected have gifts sort of like super powers.
Sadie hasn’t discovered her talent yet and is wondering if she will ever gain her skill. The key to unlocking her mystery lies with her past but maybe there is more to her orphanage origin than she thought.

I would recommend this book to fans of the girl in the box series. This book is a Solid 4 stars.

Adoption Beyond Borders

Adoption Beyond Borders: How International Adoption Benefits Children

This book was written like a university dissertation with a clear and concise argument to the benefits of adoption from a different country to your origin. This book is heavily referenced to show research and supporting evidence to the benefits. It also includes the authors own story of the process of adopting a child from a different country.

The decision to adopt a child may be different in each case however it is important to look at the options that are available. Although this book is written to encourage adoption from different countries I feel it would be beneficial to anyone wanting to adopt a child. It is a very interesting read and if you are curious about adoption I would recommend this book to you.

International adoptions have decreased in numbers in the last ten years even though there is evidence to supports the benefits. This book looks at the social and biological elements including psychology, neuroscience, evolutionary biology, sociology, anthropology and social work.

 5 stars out of 5.

Wife Me Bad Boy

Wife Me Bad Boy (Book 2 in the Bad Boy Series)

Chance Carter

This is the second book in the Bad Boy series. This book can be read as a standalone story however I would recommend you start with the first book, Bad Boy Daddy.
Lacey is the daughter of the man that brought the brotherhood together. Four men who together had all the skills needed to pull off the biggest heists possible. Unfortunately Lacey’s dad has passed away leaving her with her four foster brothers as family. They are a close network and live together in her father’s mansion.

Jackson who we meet in the first book is about to marry the love of his life after an eventful few years. They are at last going to get their happy ending and move into their own place. Grant is also one of the four brothers and has always had a crush on Lacey but out of loyalty to her father he has never acted on his feelings.

When you have met the one person you are supposed to be with no one else can compare. Grant wants to see Lacey happy but when will he come to his senses and realise he is the only one that can fulfil that role.

Grant doesn’t need a wife but he’s about to find out it will cost him everything.
This book was good with an unpredictable plot throughout. Just like the first book I feel the writing is refreshing I don’t know if this is because the author is male but it offers an interesting read which is a little different.

4.5 stars out of 5. I’d recommended it to those who like a juicy Adult read.
