Sexy: Luke & Elise's First Night #companion

Sexy: Luke & Elise's First Night (Naughty #1.25)

by

Review:  ♥ ♥

Sexy is the smut companion to Dirty. It's Luke and Elise's first night (the drunken pool incident). Dirty is the story this is just one night. It's hot, it's dirty and full of sexy scenes.

Short read which is an enhancement of the original story. 5 stars out of 5.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Dirty

After returning home due to her father’s illness, Elise Phillips reunites with her college friends, including Luke Long. Luke was a player back then, and Elise had always prided herself on not being another notch on his bedpost.

Luke is still gorgeous though, and he knows it. And he checks all her boxes—intelligent and sexy with muscles and a hard body.

Following a night of beer and shots, her resistance runs out, and he finally does check her box. And Elise knows that it can never happen again.

Luke had always thought of Elise as the pretty girl that was friends with his roommate’s girlfriend, but now she’s all grown up. When their night of passion rocks Luke’s world he realizes he must have her again.

The two enter a friends-with-benefits relationship with the agreement that they’re just going to have fun. The only thing is, with mutual friends involved, they have to hide their indiscretion.

But what harm can come from a dirty little secret?

Kinky (Naughty 0.5)

Kinky (Naughty 0.5)

by

Review:  ♥ ♥

Kinky is Rachel's story. In Dirty we meet Rachel and Sean who have been a long standing couple, so this book takes us back to the college years when they first started dating. I would recommend you read Dirty first as it enhances this storyline, however it isn't essential.

Rachel and Elise are best friends. In college they were each other's wing women and go too person. When Rachel met Sean, Elise was the first to realise Rachel was hot for him. The girls are happy to enjoy the college experience and decide to go to a party at the boys house.

Everything Rachel hears about Sean makes her like him even more and when these two get together it's kinky as hell. What started out as lustful thoughts turns into so much more. Once you have met the one nothing can stand in the way.

5 out of 5. I'm a huge fan of these two authors and really enjoyed this read. When it's meant to be its. Want to be.

*I received a beta copy of this book with no obligations to review. My review is honest and fair.

Question One: What inspired you to write Secret Heir?

Growing up, I was obsessed with YA and fantasy books. LJ Smith was one of my favourite authors. I could never get enough and it was something I just couldn’t shake even as an adult! My tastes grew to new adult and contemporary romance later on. I was looking for something which was a blend of all my favourite genres—YA, NA, romance, fantasy and contemporary. I couldn’t find anything which quite fit that space so I decided to write a book that would satisfy my own cravings and hoped that other people would enjoy it too!

I’ve always been fascinated by the stories of Eden—Adam and Eve, good and evil, beauty and cruelty, love and temptation. I thought this would be the perfect backdrop for the Dynasty trilogy. Romeo and Juliet is also one of my favourite tragedies. I absolutely love the forbidden love trope and the tangled web which feuding families can weave. Royal romances is also one of my guilty pleasures along with the enemies to lovers trope and I’m a sucker for cliche high school dramas. In addition, my experience as lawyer, has fostered a growing fascination with politics, power plays and manipulation. So, I took everything I loved and blended it together to create the premise for Secret Heir.

Question Two: Who was your favourite character and why?

Jaz is my idea of a perfect heroine. She’s flawed and broken yet strong, sassy and utterly badass. I absolutely adore her. She has a sharp mind and an even sharper tongue. I also love her dark sense of humour (something that is definitely recreated from my own dark humour).

Raph is also my ideal alpha male anti-hero. I have to admit that I don’t like squeaky clean Prince Charming types. I like my love interests, dark, twisted, cocky, and baaaad almost beyond the point of redemption. Key word being almost because there’s always a reason why the villain is the way he is. I love  characters with so many layers to them that you feel guilty for loving them but can’t quite make yourself hate them. Raph ticks all those boxes and although he does some pretty messed up things, you see some of the reasons why in Secret Heir but even more so in Dynasty Volume II: Shattered Heir. I love that conflict between knowing that you should stay the hell away from this guy yet not being able to resist him. Raph is definitely this guy.

Question Three: What did a normal school day on planet earth look like for Jazmine?

Before Eden, Jaz was like a ghost on earth—alive but not really living. Her existence was lonely, dark and she never felt like she belonged anywhere. Not in any of the ten foster homes she’d lived in after her mom’s death. She went to ten different schools. High school for her was friendless and lonely. She never let herself get attached, never made any friends because she was always moving around. Ultimately, this was because she didn’t really belong on earth so she couldn’t connect with anyone because she knew there was this strange power hidden inside her.

She floated through the high school halls like a ghost, unseen, unknown—and she liked it that way. But then everything changed when she arrived in Eden.

Question Four: I loved the fiery relationship Jaz has with Raph. How did you come up with your prank ideas and did it have you laughing like me?

Enemies to lovers, forbidden love and royal romances are some of my favourite tropes. So the relationship between Jaz and Raph is spurred from all of those passions. I believe that there’s a thin line between love and hate—it’s always the one that you love the most that you are capable of hating the most. I wanted to create an almost all-consuming fire between Jaz and Raph, one which has the power to either burn them alive or make them anew.

I also think that dialogue is key when building a romance between characters. There needs to be humour, banter, sexy flirtation and fire. The dialogue between Jaz and Raph had this from the start even when they were exchanging insults and threats—there was always an undertone of sexual tension and desire.

I LOVED writing the pranks. I found myself smiling and laughing at some parts. I wanted them to be funny, outrageous and downright cruel. Some of the ideas (the less extreme ones) came from personal experience, some from seeing something on TV and thinking ‘that’s perfect for Secret Heir!’ or just from creating a perfect prank from my own mind.

Question Five: Will Jazmine be our leading lady in all the books or will we be getting others points of view?

Dynasty Volume II: Shattered Heir, which I’m writing as we speak, is told from duel POVs. Readers will therefore get more insight into Raph’s mind and what the hell he was thinking in that last scene of Secret Heir. Readers will be able to see beneath that facade and into the complex mind of our anti-hero to see just how messed up and perfectly flawed he is.

Question Six: Who would you recommend Secret Heir to?

Reviewers have said that it is a blend of A Court of Thorns and Roses, Paper Princess and Curse of the Gods. The comparison is truly flattering and I would agree that Secret Heir, although a romance first and foremost, is a unique blend of fantasy, contemporary with a touch of paranormal. I would recommend it to anyone looking for this unique blend and also anyone who shares my love for forbidden romances, enemies to lovers and royal romance tropes.
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/06/bc/0c/06bc0c6fbca10e4494cb38fe96816ff4.jpg
Question Seven: When can we expect the next instalment? How many books are you planning in the series?

Volume II: Shattered Heir is targeted for release in autumn 2018. I’m writing it as we speak and as you’d expect from the ending of Secret Heir, it’s a lot darker and even more twisted. The focus in Secret Heir was on introducing the world of Eden but you don’t really get to see much outside of Regency Mount. I wanted to focus on the relationships and spinning the foundations for the twisted romance between Jaz and Raph.

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/06/bc/0c/06bc0c6fbca10e4494cb38fe96816ff4.jpgShattered Heir will further immerse readers into the world of Eden. The events will necessitate an exploration of the history of Eden and of the tangled web which weaves the Dynasties together. The dark threat waiting in the shadows, which was hinted at in Secret Heir, is front stage and centre in Shattered Heir along with the implications of what we learned the future holds for Raph and Jaz. We see them battling against each other and the warring concepts of love, hate, duty and freedom. We see the loyalties of the other heirs being tested and relationships straining the the ever darkening times.

Dynasty was initially planned as a trilogy so currently there are three books in total planned. We will see the Dynasty heirs grow from the spoiled, privileged heirs that we see in the beginning of Secret Heir to the leaders capable of saving and ruling Eden.

Question Eight: Can we find a little of you in the book?

I think that it’s impossible to write a book without personal influences coming through. I’d definitely say that my dark humour is reflected in Secret Heir as well as my sarcasm. Jaz’s attitude is also something drawn from personal experience. My profession means that I’m a fighter by nature and I think this has definitely influenced my creation of Jaz.

Question Nine: Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a writer, sometimes artist, sometimes lawyer, often a dreamer and a hopeless romantic but a die hard bookworm at all times

Any Boy But You

Any Boy But You (North Pole, Minnesota #1)

by

Review:  ♥ ♥ ♥

I love this series. I've read the books out of order but their all standalone stories so it doesn't really matter. The North Pole is my favourite fictional town and I can't wait to see what Julie Hammerle will come up with next.

When I read the synopsis of this book I expected the story to be sweet, but predictable. What I got was so much more. Any boy but you, wasn't the fiery hate relationship I was expecting.

Elena and Oliver are on opposite sides. They are literally working on opposite sides of the road. Their families both run sports shops in the North Pole. Their grandparents started the shop as a partnership but a long-running feud has turned these two families into a modern day, Romeo and Juliet.

Oliver is a twin his sisters is Miss Popular. Oliver would rather play video games and live the life of a hermit. His school grades are average and he doesn't have many friends. His mum has decided enough is enough. He needs to improve his life and get out more. Oliver has created a game which is designed to boost sales in the sports shop. Now his mum has put him on a technology diet he has to hand the reins to his sister.

Elena knows her family business is in trouble, but she doesn't realise how bad it is. They have let all their employees go and Elena is working a lot of hours. She has given up running for the school and her free time is now spent at the shop. Her best friend Harper has been really busy lately and Elena finds herself drawn to Oliver's game. Everyone around town is playing it and 1st prize is her summer break dream. Elena is approached to tutor Oliver and the money is too good to turn down. They struggle to get on and survive the sessions.

Oliver wants to check up on his game and the only way he can is to join as a player. He isn't trying to win he just wants to see his masters piece. What he finds is an online chat with an amazing girl. She's funny, interesting and has Oliver wanting a social life for once. They don't know who each other is but there are lots of people in the North Pole surely it can't be the one person he hates the most.

The side story of this book is Harper's story. She hooks up with Oliver's twin and she realises girls may not be a passing thought. I hope Harper gets her own story. She's an interesting character and I want to see her find love.

5 stars out of 5. Great Read.

Chapter One

July 23rd 2012 12:35 pm

Dixon City - Suburbs

She had given up on the hope of surviving this.

Perhaps it was hours ago that the switch had been flicked in her brain, but it could have been minutes. It could’ve been days. Anything remaining of Megan’s sanity, that rational part of her that had the ability to form coherent thoughts had dissolved as quickly and completely as a sugar cube in a cup of scalding tea.

The only thing she knew now for sure was pain. It had taken over her mind, hand in hand with a kind of fear that she couldn’t have possibly comprehended before. It was a combination that no one survives to talk about.

Her world had been reduced to the basement she was being held in.

 Beth.

She had assured Megan that the dealer was legitimate. The house had seemed safe enough. Nevertheless, a nervousness had blossomed the moment they stepped off the bus, and it had continued to grow in her stomach with every step the two of them had taken to the address Beth’s new online ‘friend’ had given her.

“C’mon Megan. Don’t be a chicken shit,” Beth had scowled.

Beth was scary when she was mad.

She always had been. Her narrow eyes and wiry red hair gave her an off-putting look that she’d used to her advantage since childhood. Beth had practically dragged Megan up the cracked concrete path that led to the house, her freckled arms so much more powerful.

There had been a dog barking in the background, she could remember that much. For some reason, its yapping had sent warning signals off all through her body, only increasing the tension that was building steadily inside her.

Megan had known that they were risking it by skipping school to buy drugs in the worst part of town. She’d seen enough horror movies to know that this was how all immoral teenage girls were punished. Instead of knocking on the door of a drug house, she should’ve been in first-period biology. But she wasn’t.

She hadn’t wanted to be chicken shit.

Megan blinked at the paneling and matted green carpet that decorated her prison. Beth had escaped. Of course she had, she had always been the stronger one. Thick boned and fearless like some kind of suburban Viking.

It hadn’t come as a shock at all when, through eyes clouded with tears, she saw Beth begin to successfully loosen her wrist bonds. Her skin had torn from the rope, and the blood that coated her hands like red satin gloves eventually helped her to slide free.

Beth hadn’t looked back at her when she slipped through the basement window. Her face had been so transformed with fear and outright panic that she looked more like a wild animal than a human.

It had been when Megan helplessly watched the soles of Beth’s sneakers disappearing through the casement window that the rational part of her mind had broken.

Two girls never escaped. There was always one left behind.

There was always one set of parents collapsing with grief in the background while the survivor’s family turned their elated smiles to the news cameras.

Megan Coogan, who had willingly allowed Beth to cheat off her in school almost daily. Megan Coogan, who had lied to Beth’s parents so that their daughter could make out with some nameless boy in the dusty corner of a playground.

That Beth would carry on, finish school, get married, get a job, maybe even have kids.

Megan Coogan would never leave this basement.

The sound of footsteps on the creaking stairs sent a surge of adrenaline through Megan’s system, drowning out her thoughts and causing her limbs to go rigid. Breathing heavily, she listened to the wood groan as he moved slowly down the steps, as if deep in thought.

The door opened carefully, and he stepped in the room.

It has been months since Miles Stevens, a time traveling CIA agent for the Department of Historic Intervention (DHI), has seen his former partner, Terri King.

Upon returning from his most recent assignment, Miles learns Terri and her new partner, Dr. James Brock, have been transported from 2050 and their offices in Langley, Virginia to thwart a bioterrorist assault on the 2032 Olympic Games in Sydney. A genetically altered chimera virus was used in the devastating September 1st attack, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths. It was never determined who was responsible, but AQIA, a terrorist organization from North Africa, was suspected.

Miles demands to join Terri and is transported to August 18, 2032. Terri is surprisingly cool to Miles’ return, having decided a life with a risk-taking CIA agent may be too stressful. Not giving up on their relationship, Miles gives her time and space.

The strong-willed Brock attempts to lead the investigation from Atlanta and win the support of Terri, but Miles has other plans. He follows his instincts to investigate a reported smallpox outbreak near Moscow, where clues mount and peril rapidly surrounds him.

Death, danger, and diversions lie ahead. Terri is torn between supporting Brock and following Miles to Moscow. With time running out, the CIA trio will need to come together if they are to stop the historic September 1st attack.

Other Books in the Miles Stevens Series:

Melting Sand
A Miles Stevens Novel, Book 1

Years of unsuccessful nuclear arms negotiations in the Middle East had finally resulted in warring countries facing off with unthinkable destructive powers. Regional flare-ups had escalated and geopolitical dominoes had tumbled, finally leading to a horrific 48-hour interchange that erased cities and forever changed the region and the world.

The war was already in the history books when Miles Stevens and Terri King were sent 23 years into the past to relive a botched CIA mission -- a mission intended to prevent the 2027 Middle East War. They landed at O'Hare International Airport with no memory of who they were, who they left behind, or why they were there. Their memories were gradually restored by their CIA superiors as they orchestrate Miles and Terri's mission from their Pentagon offices in the year 2050.

Iranian subversives, acting alone, intent on fueling the war's progress, had been alerted to the couple's arrival, putting them in danger the second they landed in Chicago. In the coming months, Miles and Terri faced the challenge of daily survival, the challenge of intercepting the events leading to the war, and the challenge of what to do with their growing love that was two decades before its time.

Cyber One
A Miles Stevens Novel, Book 2

Coordinated cyberattacks were launched against the U.S. on May 8, 2020, destroying vast electrical grids of its largest cities, sending them into darkness and chaos. In the weeks and months that followed, thousands of citizens perished, the American economy collapsed, and gang law ruled. The source of these attacks remained a mystery.

Miles Stevens, a time traveling CIA agent with the Department of Historic Intervention (DHI), ended his last mission stranded in 2028, never knowing if his partner, Terri King, made it safely home to 2050. Before returning to learn Terri’s fate, Miles is given another DHI assignment--travel back to 2020, join the newly formed Cyber One counterterrorism team, and avert the May 8th cyberattacks.

From Cyber One headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland, Miles and his team pursue the cyberterrorists to remote outposts in Russia and the Middle East. With the May 8th deadline looming, Miles Stevens once again races against time to alter history.

PREFACE
Year – Somewhere between 2020 and 2050

BODY AND MIND DETACH during journeys across time.

Einstein was the first to theorize such travel was possible, but it took more than 100 years after his death to put his theory into practice.   Elaborate technologies were developed to convert mass into protons for the time-altering voyage, and then upon arrival, convert them back to their original form.

Protons can’t think, yet Miles Stevens firmly believed he had thoughts, or maybe dreams, during his trips from one decade to the next.  Returning from his most recent mission, his vision of Terri King was vivid.  He anticipated her greeting, arms extended, smile bright.

Without his body to limit what his mind imagined, everything seemed possible. Miles wondered what it would be like to be suspended indefinitely passing through time.  He concluded the thoughts were euphoric, but thinking wasn’t as satisfying as doing.

Hope sustained Miles during his last mission: hope that Terri was safe and hope that they’d be reunited.  The desperate look on Terri’s face as she was forced into the time capsule had never left Miles’ mind.  Left alone two decades in the past, he could do nothing to save her.  But Miles’ wait was nearly over.  He was about to learn if Terri had made it home to 2050.

MILES HEARD THE DOORS of the time capsule snap open and felt the rush of fresh air filling the cabin.  He squinted as his eyes adjusted to the florescent light of the reentry room.

He could see Dr. Jones, standing stone-faced outside the capsule door.  Miles scanned the open space before him, but there was no sign of Terri.

It had been nearly a year since Miles had seen his former partner.

Where is she?
